Found this one too:
Richard-D ick
Just as with the previous name, medieval times brought about D ick as a nickname for Richard. The Normans, descendents of Vikings who resided in northern France, had a unique way of trilling their "r" sounds. When the English attempted to pronounce Richard as the Normans did, it was reported that they could not quite do it correctly and the "r" came off sounding like a "d". Thus D ick became a pet name for Richard.

My Dad is a Richard and everyone calls him D ick, D ickie when he was little which his sisters still call him.
My Dad's side is a wacky bunch and my Stepmother is a very proper person. She was not a fan of the nickname at all. She worked very hard to get him to be called Rich or Richard. Once when we were at my Aunts house everyone was calling him D ick, so my stepmother said he actually prefers Richard now (mind you they weren't married yet) So my very loud Aunt says.....He is a D ick, he always was a D ick and he'll always be a D ick. I thought my Stepmother was going to pass out!! It was quite the initiation into our family.
OMG PRICELESS
