Anyone Have/Had a Potty Trained Kid who still pees at night?? Advice needed.
My 4 year old is completely potty trained for about a year now, but he still pees all the time at night. We had him in pull ups for awhile, but then decided that we didn't want him to get comfortable and we started having him wear underware and he pretty much peed every night....which meant cleaning the sheets every day. It was becoming too much and one night he actually stained the mattress, so I have him back in Pull ups. We tried everything, giving him a dollar if he didn't pee, etc....nothing has worked. He really wants to do it, but I honestly think he is such a deep sleeper he does not realize he has to go . My other boy (his twin) will wake up and go to the bathroom, but this one does not seem to even move.
Any advice? Should I keep him in pull ups until he stops? I plan on asking the ped at the next appt, but thought i would ask here. Thanks!

Re: Anyone Have/Had a Potty Trained Kid who still pees at night?? Advice needed.
We are in the exact same situation... DD is 4 1/2, has been completely perfectly potty trained since 2 year 2 months old. We were waiting for her to wake up dry more often than not to be ready to take the pull up off at night... but we would get a day here and there. Finally we said ok its time, this is crazy! So we took it off... started really limited drinks to nothing after say 7-7:30 pm... she went potty right before bed... but still many nights she would wet the bed. THEN we started running upstairs and bringing her to the bathroom right before we went to bed around 11/12 ish... that worked for the most part, only accidents here and there. then my DH came across one of those what to expect during the toddler years or something like that and he is reading it while eating one night ( which is totally funny if you knew DH, and a little late since our girls are 4 and 2 lol but better late than never!). In the book it says some kids just arent ready at that age, and may not be ready until 6! They said not to limit drinks, obviously to not scold etc. over bed wetting and that when they are emotionally ready, they will be dry. So it made sense... back to the pull ups we went. Shes so smart and was potty trained in like 4 days that we didnt know what we were doing wrong. but after reading more about it we backed off and will let it develop at her own pace!

DS is 5 and he still wets at night. I think it's the same deal as you stated - he is such a deep sleeper. We tried everything but nothing works. From talking to other moms, I learned that this is really a lot more common that you think. I also talke to the ped too and she's not concerned. So, he still wears pull ups at night. He'll stop sooner or later.

Someone (not fully trust-worthy) but someone told me that with boys its related to hormones and her DS was on Rx. You might want to talk to your doctor. My mom said that she used to take us to the bathroom before she went to sleep for the night. I don't remember it and apparently, we didn't really wake-up.

I did this with my daughter for a long time after she was potty trained. She was one to never wake up dry but she didn't want to wear a pull-up anymore.
