Anyone have thyroid issues before /after/during pregnancy?
i was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroiditis. my pcp took some bloodwork after the birth of my son and saw a high level of antibodies in the thyroid . i was referred to the endo dr and during the exam he mentioned if i were to get pregnant to come in immediately.
it has me a little spooked! i have 2 healthy kids now and dh and i are open to a 3rd but my thyroid has me worried.
there are issues with brain development to the fetus or growth issues etc.
anyone have any insight? was it hard for you to get pregnant? did you have to go on meds while pregnant?

I ended up needed levoxyl while PG with my first (DS) and had to go repeatedly for blood tests throughout my pregnancy. I am on levoxyl for the rest of my life. I had to go get my hormones checked (blood tests) through out DDs pregnancy too. My medicine was increased a lot from DS to DD. It is not a big deal, just annoying to have the blood test. I take my medicine every morning at the same time. Just be aware if you are put on levoxyl/synthroid you should not eat walnuts. I got pg the first month for both kids.

Why no walnuts??? I ate walnuts all throughout my pregnancy as an added source of protein! 
OP- I am on synthroid and will be for the rest of my life. I did not have trouble getting pregnant, but likely would have if my thryoid nodule hadn't been found and removed. I have half of a thyroid now. My levels were a little wacky right after delivery but were fine during pregnancy - no med adjustment needed. As long as you are checked frequently (i believe once per trimester) and it's properly controlled, you should have nothing at all to worry about!

I am on synthroid for hypothyroidism. I am pregnant with DC # 2 right now. I never heard of the walnut thing. I actually ate a lot of walnuts last night...they are very healthy.
