My mom is currently fighting leukemia, so I will remain masked for her. It's the only way I'll allow myself to go over to see her. She's basically getting treatments that destroy her immune system, so I stay masked when out running errands and at her house when I visit.
I hope no one questions you or gives you a hard time. Many people have reasons for continuing to wear a mask and no one should question them. I've seen so many posts on social media asking why anyone is continuing to wear a mask, and implying that they are stupid, wrong, ignorant etc for doing so. It infuriates me. I really don't understand why so many people are so worked up over someone else deciding to wear a mask.
Honestly, you're more likely to get questioned or judged for not wearing one. It's not like she'll be the only person still wearing a mask. 95% or more of people are still wearing one I'd say
Yes, for now. But I'm seeing so many posts asking "why is anyone still wearing a mask" with all kinds of negative implications and responses. Heck, I saw an older guy driving in a convertible with the top down, wearing a mask - I have no idea why, but it's none of my business and whatever works for him. I just don't understand people getting worked up over someone choosing to wear a mask (and many seem to be)
Of course to each their own but if people don’t want to rip off the bandaid, and that is including businesses, we will never be able to get back to some normalcy.
You are 100% missing the point. Some people CAN'T rip off the bandaid - and it's no one's business why. Some people don't want to rip off the bandaid - again, no one's business why. NOT wearing a mask affects those around you - and that's whey people cared. Choosing to wear a mask, even if no longer required, impacts absolutely no one other than the person making that choice.
I don’t understand why so many are so bothered by those who want to continue to wear a mask. I actually encourage my in-laws to due to pre existing conditions. I don’t care either way what people do....Keep your opinion to yourself, no one is going to change the way people feel at this point. I’ve come to this realization now....worry about yourself.
ITA but the fighting that is happening is just wrong. Again, worry about yourself.
You should do EXAcTLY as you preach and worry about yourself. Stop focusing on why people are still wearing masks or if they are or aren't vaccinated. It DOES NOT matter anymore. Those who want to be vaccinated are free to do so, those who want to go without a mask are free to do so. Stores that want to still require masks are free to do so. People still have the right to wear a mask if they feel it's best. Stop being such a judgemental asshole, since it has NO effect on you.

Well I won’t be a Karen out there so this really doesn’t apply to me but the ones who will fight with others in public why or why not they have a mask on.

Just do what you want and who the heck cares what anyone else says. People wore masks before the pandemic even hit. All the asian population around me use to wear masks all winter long. It is normal for them. It is not a novel idea to wear one. I really wish people just minded their own business and stopped worrying about all the people around them.

Exactly, this is the thing I don’t understand. Many Asians wore masks before this, I never made fun or them or thought it was weird. So why would it be weird now, there’s still an ongoing pandemic.
I also don’t care if you don’t wear a mask, I don’t care if you’re vaccinated or not. I say in my circle for friends and family it’s about half and half. No one fights, no one is calling anyone names, no one debates. We chat, have good conversations, and have a good time. We are just happy that we are all survived this past year and half!
People are really obsessive and focus on the wrong things lately.

Starting Monday, my kickboxing gym is allowing vaccinated people to go maskless during class. Your mask must be worn when entering and exiting. Plus, you have to show proof of your vaccination.
They don’t have the right to ask you that. It is against Hippa.
It is 100% NOT against HIPAA (as has been stated on here many many times). HIPAA only applies to medical offices, doctors, hospitals etc. being prohibited from sharing what is called Protected Health Information (PHI). PLEASE stop saying that anything to do with a venue, store, restaurant etc. asking about vaccine status is a HIPAA violation - plain and simple, it is not. No matter how many times you say it is, it's not and you saying so will not change that
I might be incorrect about the stores, not sure. Stated here by whom, Hippa or people on a local board who know as much as the next person?
I posted this in March:

HIPAA laws don't apply to stores and other non-medical venues.

A June 3 letter suggests that conditioning access to shops or malls on presenting negative Covid-19 results is somehow a violation of the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, commonly known as HIPAA. This is legally incorrect. HIPAA only applies to “covered entities,” which consist of certain health-care providers, health plans (e.g., health insurers, Medicare) and health-care clearinghouses. HIPAA also applies to a covered entity’s business associates, e.g., those providing certain services to the covered entity. It does not apply to individuals, who are always free to reveal to anyone their health information, nor does it prevent a store owner, nursing home, theme park or restaurateur from requesting Covid-19 information as a condition of admission. Other laws, however, may come into play here, but not HIPAA.

That's from the head lawyer from HHS.
I would consider the head lawyer from the HHS as someone who knows what they are talking about....
She refuse to read or learn how to spell.....please VB post which doctors office this is so we can avoid it as the doctors are jackasses and if they don't know HIPAA they should not be trusted with human lives.

Yes please for the love of all that is holy stop saying it is against HIPAA- it is not, read above, or better look it up yourself. But not on Trumpsters.com. And learn how to spell it while you are at it.
Can you for once just not be so nasty? You are the perfect example of someone locked up too long with no other human interaction and no job to keep you busy. You forgot how to be civil.
Can you for once not be so stupid? As you very well know since you are such a good post searcher, I have worked in an office every day of this, even during last March, April, May. I, unlike you, did not work from home. I am with people all day everyday. You are the perfect example of a perfect idiot.
Edited to say , you are the one who seems to have nothing to keep you busy. Look at how sporadically I post and look at my post count since 2010....YOU are the one who is literally on this board all day and night long and responds usually instantly, but in no more than 3 minutes.

Anyone in NY gone to a store today
I've seen a few people out and about without them. I think the cashiers at lowes did not have them on. I'm not sure why, but I'm still wearing the mask even though I don't have to

This was not you this February?:
Yes. I have posted on this board many times how my job takes no Covid precautions and half the office has had it. Luckily they fired me this week. I feel like I was released from an unjust prison sentence!

Oh yes I would give out personal info of someone not on this board. Just because you never heard of this doesn’t mean it is not real. SMH
Just because she never heard of what, exactly? That there in NO HIPAA VIOLATION in the situation you are talking about? WHY do you keep questioning that FACT!?!?!? You are 100% wrong about this. Give it up already, PLEASE!!!
Ok, once again I was speaking about a friend who works in a medical office. I did say I see now that it only pertains to medical and health places. SMH
So far I have gone to 3 places today and none asked anyone coming in unmasked.

Anyone in NY gone to a store today
Info regarding HIPPA.....
Who is Covered by the Privacy Rule
The Privacy Rule, as well as all the Administrative Simplification rules, apply to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and to any health care provider who transmits health information in electronic form in connection with transactions for which the Secretary of HHS has adopted standards under HIPAA (the “covered entities”). For help in determining whether you are covered, use CMS's decision tool.
Oh and look at that a source to back it up. Stop with the HIPPA ********.

Re: Anyone in NY gone to a store today
I joined a group on Facebook called unmask our children - New York more out of curiosity because I am ready for my kids to kids be unmasked.
Well the majority of the post is about all the stores that are not letting people in without a mask and how they are not allowed to do that blah blah blah. That everyone should boycott the store. They are complaining about restaurants and walking out if they make you put a mask on.
It’s ridiculous the whiny cry babies out there. One Who cares if you have to wear a mask in the restaurant it’s literally for what the minute it takes you to walk to the table then you can take it off. People are really starting arguments over that. Second any company can do what they want in their stores and they way these people who they talked to these employees is disgusting. Get a grip people! No need to take out anger on employees who have no control.
Both sides are just ridiculous. There are risks no matter what side you are on And the fact that people act like theres not annoys the shittt out of me.
I need to learn to stay off Facebook cause legit my blood pressure rises every time cause Of the stupidity I read on there!!
That’s my rant of the day lol
I will Also say I went into a ShopRite and the sign says that they are encouraging everyone even vaccinated to wear a mask. Not sure if that meant they would stop anyone who was in wearing a mask but Everyone was wearing one.

As per Newsday their employees must still wear masks but unvaccinated shoppers do not have to. I think many are afraid to be the first and I think as time goes on and more unmask, more will do it themselves.
I would say read the individual stores signs and if they say all mask up, then mask up. I am sure eventually all will drop the masks but they are not just ready yet. I went to 3 places yesterday and all 3 you could go in unmasked.

Re: Anyone in NY gone to a store today
My daughter had gymnastics yesterday- all along this gymnastics place only required masks for adults- never for the children students... ...never an outbreak there either- but I digress....
The sign on the door always said- all adults must wear masks to enter.
The sign yesterday said- If you are vaccinated you no longer need to wear a mask to enter...but we won't ask you because it's none of our business.
I have yet to see any business ask for any proof. Just the ones who don't want to let people unmask continue to have their signs saying masks required.
I think that will be how it goes for the most part....

Re: Anyone in NY gone to a store today
More places not requiring masks.
My hair salon said they are not allowed to ask if you are vaccinated nor ask to see your card.
Sooo while it might not be a hipaa thing, businesses are making the choice not to ask.

I think that it's more like a privacy thing and they should use the honor system here. Or just let everyone unmask like in other states if you are going to let some people unmask. My husband has antibodies but is not vaccinated. he shouldn't still have to wear a mask.

Anyone in NY gone to a store today
I went to a few stores. 99% of people had masks on.
One man walked in ahead of me, chest puffed out, unmasked, looking around like a D list celeb trying to see if anyone was looking at him. It was really sad and desperate. It was a complete cry for attention or to flex. But it’s a guy on LI, so I’m not surprised and I’m sure he’s the type driving a Ram with a “Pelosi Sucks” sticker tailgating everyone.
