Anyone put their newborn right to the crib?

Happy New Year everybody!

I'm curious to see if anyone put their newborns right to their own cribs without having them in a bassinet, co-sleeper, etc.?

Both of our parents put me and DH right to crib, but now I hear more and more parents having the baby in their rooms in a little cradle, bassinet, etc.

Our DD's nursery will be right across the hallway, about 20 feet from our bed.

Both DC went in their crib, in their own room from day 1 (well, technically, day 1 was in the hospital.... )

I put DD in the crib first night home too.

We had DS in the pack & play in our room for a few days but then put him in the crib by the first weekend since DH was going back to work.

DS was in a crib from day 1 due to space issues. His room is right next to ours. Turned out to be a good decision now since there is no transition. However, I remember those days in the beginning of being scared and sad leaving him in there. But i'd say by 2 or 3 weeks I was comfortable with is. Needless to say he has a video monitor and an Angelcare monitor in his room just in case.

DS went right into his crib. I think we both slept better that way. Newborns are so restless and grunt and groan so much in their sleep I just knew I would be up all night long with all the noises he made... For us it was the best decision. And if #2 comes along one day we will do the exact same thing.

DD was in here crib from her first night home. She looked so little in it, but she did great. We have a summer infant video and sound monitor so we can keep an eye on her. We didn't want to worry about transitioning her later.

during the first 2-3 weeks, we stayed at my mother's for help and care. during my time there i had my ds in a basket or bassinet. once i got home he went straight in his crib in his room.

We did - starting around day 3 when we were home from the hospital.

at 6 weeks she slept in her crib. prior to that, she was in the bassinet part of her PNP in our living room.

next time around - we're going straight to the crib!!

within 2 weeks, they were both in their cribs

my DD was in her crib since day 1. It worked out well for us since her room is very close to ours anyway.

Both of mine went right into the crib in the nursery. It's the room next to ours and we have a small house. I don't have room in my room for a basinette even if I'd wanted one.

I see nothing wrong with putting them straight into their cribs when your room is so close if you are comfortable with that. I used a bassinet b.c I EBF and with a c-section it was easiest middle of the night to just reach into DD's bassinet, feed her and put her back in - so I never had to turn on the lights or get out of bed.

If you are bottle feeding I wouldn't think it would matter if the baby was in your room. I think a lot of people are just more comfortable having the baby in the room with them to watch them for fear of SIDS - but I don't think it is necessary. You need to do what is best for you and your DH.

Both went in their cribs right away.

The nursery is big enough to accomodate a queen sized bed as well. We slept in their room for the first month.

ETA: I BF exclusively for three weeks. I needed DH's help at night to feed both at the same time.

I had both my DC's in their cribs from day 1.

With my last son I put him in the crib I think between 1-2wks old.
