Anyone receive wrong gender at 20 week ultrasound?
Is anyone nervous that the gender seen at their 20 week might be wrong? I keep hearing stories of "friends of friends" who were told girl but then gave birth to a boy! Just curious if anyone has had that experience.
My insurance only allows me 3 sonos, so unless there are complications, I won't have any more. Thus, won't be able to confirm gender again until birth!

it definitely happens once in a while, but i don't think it's very common.
did your sono tech's not seem certain about the gender?

I have a friend that was told boy and it was later reversed to girl! So it definitely can happen.

It can happen. Every Sono after our 20 week I asked if it was a girl

It definately happens. Happened to two friends of mine. With my second i had a lot of sonos and the first thing out of my mouth every time was "is it still a boy?" LOL

I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. That said, both my DDs were pretty clearly girls... with #2, DH knew it before the tech said anything!

My friend was told girl at 20 week scan, then had a growth scan and it turned out he was a boy!!! Our baby was definitely a boy at our anatomy scan but I was having the same worries as you so I spoke to my OB and she said she'd put down "cramping" for insurance reasons lol and she allowed me another scan at 27 weeks. I went to a different tech, who my OB said has never been wrong, and she said clearly a boy... Then I had a growth sono at 35 weeks and my mom was there and the tech showed us the boy parts again and he is DEFINITELY all boy. (PS: Tech even said she was leaning toward boy at 12 week scan lol.) Moral of the story, try to get another scan to set your mind at ease.

It definitely happens, but I don't know how often.
If you're limited to only having 3 sonos, then you can pay to go to an ultrasound center for a gender scan (or 3D/4D, which is really cool!). They don't go through insurance anyway. Those usually range anywhere from $75 for the 2D gender scan up to $150+ for 3D pics and a 4D video.
