Are you an Organ Donor?
I am watching Extreme makeover. A 16 year old boy died in a car accident and was an organ donor. He helped save a lot of people... His mother met the Girl who got his heart she is 19.
Waiting list candidates 95,375 as of today 8:44pm
Transplants January - December 2006 28,923 as of 03/02/2007

I am sitting here thinking wow thats awesome he was 16 and did it. When they were standing outside looking at the house they showed the crowd and asked how many people are organ donors... Almost everyone (mostly teenagers) raised their hands...
They are so Brave and I don't know why I am not

DH actually donated one of his kidneys to his best friend about 4 years ago. I admire him sooo much for doing such a wonderful thing!

Yes! Harvest away!!! Funny thing though... dh wouldn't act as a witness, so I had to get someone else. He, like a poster above, does not agree with it and has no reason why.
ETA: Thanks to SHORTY's link, I REALLY am an organ donor now!!! Refer to her post if you want more info!!!

I have not checked off the box on my drivers license - for mo real explanation - but i have told dh and family numerous times that my wish is to be a donor

keith saved 3 lives could have been more but there were small complacations
he saved a 50 year old carpenter, a 20 year old girl, and a 9 year old little girl

Absofriggin'lutly! It felt SOOOOOOOOOO good when I cut my hair nad donated to locks and love, god I can't even imagine how wonderful to know that I can help save lives!
Also, I believe it was Janet who received letters from receipent's of Keith's organs, when those were shared with me I thought "what a reassuring and amazing thing to receive" and I also thought "this could make coping a LOT easier.

Agreed. I let my docs know that IF and WHEN this cancer gets me...cut me open and learn from me. My cancer is so rare and even rarier to be found among young people that there is little documentation of successful treatment's.
I think it's WONDEFUL to think, wow, I couldn't contribute much onearth but I could save the lives of someone who may be able to contribute a TON to this earth.

yes deb, i did post it on the board the letter i recieved from the ny organ doner network. i am in the mist of writing my letters to the families in hopes they would like to meet. i am so happy to have done what i did. We saved a little girl. there was an article in the suffolk life just last week, that only 73 people from long island donated, i had a HUGE smile on my face knowing my Angel was one of those who gave the gift of life.
they use the symbol of butterflies because they have a second chance at life. well as of tomorrow kryssy's walls will be covered in butterflies. i have a butterfly on my car. and i hope to get a tat of one(butterfly) with the recieves names on it if i can.
PLEASE if you have not done it PLEASE do. trust me it's a great feeling, and it does help you to feel that your loved one does go on and right now a little girl who very well is now a healthy 10 yearold running around and playing

no this is not a personal question, it's a wonderful thing like i said before. it will be a year VERY VERY SOON and i have a smile on my face knowing that this litte girl , the 20 year old girl and the 50 year old man are all able to be here today and live a life with there families and friends. knowing i helped make that possible it really and truly helps. yes my heart is breaking as i write this and i hurt and urn for my love back but when i look back to the morning after when i got woken up that it was over, i went in the room said my goodbyes and when i left the hospital that morning was sooo quite, sooo beautiful, and all around great moring thinking that these familes where waking up to a new lease on life. as my hardship was just starting they where celebrating
