Re: Are you an Organ Donor?
I would want to donate my organs, but I'm disqualified because of BSE/CJD/Mad Cow limitations having lived in Ireland and the UK in the 90's. I can't even donate blood

Re: Are you an Organ Donor?
YES, I am an organ donor.
This show hit too close to home for me and I had to shut it off.

Re: Are you an Organ Donor?
Yes, and for those who don't, I beg you to reconsider for a moment.
My father has been diabetic now for about 35 years. 6 years ago he went into kidney failure, and was put on dialysis. For the first 2-3 years he qualified for a kidney transplant, but he was so low on the list, that he never got one.
Now, because dialysis takes such a tremendous toll on your body, he no longer qualifies for a transplant. Life expectancy for a patient over the age of 60 on dialysis is about 6-8 years. We all know his time left with us is very short, and it brings me to tears almost every night.
When you check that little box on your license you give hope, not just to one person in desperate need, but to everyone in his/her life that loves him/her and can't bear the thought of losing that person.

Re: Are you an Organ Donor?
I am an organ donor, and I actually made the decision to donate my father's organs when he passed away suddenly of a heart attack. My mother was very afraid that they wouldnt give him the same level of care once we told them that we would donate - but I assured her that made no sense what-so-ever. It was very comforting to know that my father, who was a retired NYC Police officer, was able to donate his skin to the FDNY burn unit. He also donated his cornea's. Because of the state of his health, no other organs were viable, but knowing that he was able to help someone is very nice.
I strongly encourage anyone who's not an organ donor to reconsider. When you are gone, your body will serve no more purpose for you, but it could make a tremendous difference in the life of another.

Re: Are you an Organ Donor?
Yes, it says so on my drivers license. but I cannot donate blood (if that makes any difference).
