I never got one and never got the flu. This year I got one because they were free at work (onsite in our office) and my uncle, a doctor, thought it would be a good idea.
if I get the flu this year I'll never get the shot again!

No, the only year I got one was the only year I've come close to getting the real flu, so I pass every year now.

The one and only time I got a flu shot, I got the full-blown flu...and it was right in the middle of final exams in college
Needless to say, I never did that again.

You can't get the flu from the flu shot. If you got it after you got the flu shot then either:
a) it was way back when they used the live virus which they don't anymore..or
b) you already had the flu cooking and got the flu shot too late.
c) you had a rare strain of the flu that they flu shot didn't cover.

I just got mine 2 days ago. I was going back and forth on it - didn't get the shot the past few years and never got the flu, but 3 people at work are out today with "flu-like symptoms," so I'm actually glad I got it.
