Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
We havent discussed it yet but I am going to suggest we don't. My MIL and my father both gave us such a hard time when we told them what our name options were. We were w/DS. My MIL especially upset me w/some of the hurtful things she said about our boy name. I refuse to give her that opportunity again.

Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
we did not and to me, it was like being team green (which I never could be)... so much anticipation, everyone was guessing and dying to know it was fun keeping it a secret until DD was born! We told everyone our son's name the first time around. If I had to make the decision again, 10000% we would keep it a secret.

Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
I was so upset with my SIL for taking our DS name that i stopped talking to her for a few months and didn't start talking to her until she had her baby shower. Everytime she calls out her son's full name i cringe. I will forgive, but never forget! So from now on no one will ever know our child's name until they are born.

Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
I frequently post on facebook about names I think would be funny/cool that my husband won't let me use. It's become a running gag.
I really don't talk about the names we actually liked... except with my close IRL friends.

Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
Not this time. We did without other three, but I feel like no one is really excited for this baby, except a few people, since its our fourth. We're trying to keep some things a secret so there is a little more excitement hahaha

Are you sharing your baby name with people?
No. We didn't last time and we won't this time. The gender was not a surprise so the name was.
I also didn't want to hear people's judgments about the name. I'd rather they just fall in love with DS without any preconceived notions.

Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
we shared it with everyone, it wasnt ever a secret, b/c we had always planned that if we were having a we would name her after our grandmothers. Lillian Marie. Lillian after my grandmother, and Marie after my DH grandmother.

I never thought about it since if it's a boy everyone already knows we are naming him after DH. I will probably tell anyone who asks.

Are you sharing your baby name with people?
I never cared about surprising people but I just didn't want to hear the comments, so we didn't share.

Re: Are you sharing your baby name with people?
We don't share. It's hard to have a bad opinion on a name when the baby is there in your arms looking so cute.
Plus we don't want any name stealers.

Yes, I've never understood why THE DAY BEFORE a baby is born you could tell someone, "We both really love the name ______, so that's our pick" and someone could be like UGH I HATE IT or UGH IT REMINDS ME OF xyz...
YET, the MOMENT you give birth and introduce baby ________ everyone is like awwww yay congrats! That's wonderful, it's great, beautiful, etc. etc. etc.
Why aren't they positive when the child is still IN the belly?! SO ODD!

I know! I think it's the mushy baby factor...it's hard to tell a new mother of an innocent baby sitting right there that they picked a bad name. Not that it's any of their business. What I recite to people if they say anything about a name, "When you push an 8 pound human being out of your hoo ha, you can name it." My uncle had an open mouthed response to that one after a comment about how I should have named my DS after him.
