Are you superstitious? 1st b-day related...w/ poll
DD was born on Christmas Day, so I will not be having a huge 1st b-day party for her. I do however, want to get her a really special cake and gingerbread house from a well known bakery. I contacted them and the baker set up an appointment for me in mid-August to design the cake and gingerbread house. She said the earlier the better because they are so busy and get especially crazy around the holidays.
Would you order your DC's 1st b-day cake so early? I am definitely going to, but I was just wondering if superstition would keep others from doing the same...

What i mean by superstitious is ordering the cake so far before the b-day...like how in some cultures no baby stuff is brought into the home until the baby is safe and sound...that kind of thing...

In some cultures, DC's future spouse is decided 15 years before they get married, so I say 4 months for a cake is fine....

Melania is the day after new years, and we're doing a "happy new year" theme for her first bday..we're gonna order her cake early too, i dont think it matters..and its fun :) i love cake lol go order it!

I would. We are superstititous in the fact that you should never celebrate a birthday ahead of the date but as far as planning that's fine.

I did all the planning and ordering way early but wouldn't have the party early. I was a little superstitious, DH had a crazy work schedule so her party could have been 4 days before or 1 month after and I opted for the 1 month after.

I never thought about it that way. My DD is only 9 months old and we booked the place for her party 3 months ago. We also had my DS's first birthday party a week before his actual birthday. Of course we also had a little celebration on the actual day.
I am superstitious about planning a party for a baby before they are born.

I would say go ahead, book it! Look how people sign up their kids for these prestigious preschools while they're still in the womb, lol! At least this is planning just a few months ahead and not a few years!

I'd plan it early.
Also my cousin's son was born on Christmas Eve; every year they celebrate his 1/2 birthday in July (this is when he has his party w/ friends & gets his "birthday" gifts) so he never gets "stiffed" at Christmas time.
