As someone who didn't vote for Obama...
I have to say... I am not sure what is in store for our future. Who knows what is in the cards for Obama in the next four years.
But I feel blessed today.
I'm watching th inaugural ball and I have to say, I am teary. Who knew that one man could be starting to bring us together? Even on just DAY ONE.
I am ready to believe.
I am ready to put aside my political differences and embrace him because our country needs someone that gives us hope and faith. Not just for our economy...but just because we're a really amazing country, and we need to begin to mend our own fences - neighbor to neighbor.
I didn't think I would feel this way. But he has started to tear down my wall...
Sorry - I don't know why I started this post, but I was just really overwhelmed.

I felt like that when we watched him take the oath in the auditorium in school. All the kids stood up and cheered. It was quite a sight.

I did not vote for Obama, but he is our Leader now-I honor him & his speech today made me feel so hopeful and so incredibly proud to be a part of this great place we call America.

Re: As someone who didn't vote for Obama...
I really hope his support continues, and he manages to detox the political environment in this country.... it was always very partisan, but over the last 12 years or so, it's been unbearable... and it's been suffocating this country
I really hope he manages to tap everyones' altruistic thoughts... so they finally think what is better for the country, rather than letting pride an stubborness reign supreme.

Re: As someone who didn't vote for Obama...
I did not vote for him either I know I am in the minority and that is so hard but I am very hopeful. Seeing how people are reacting to his presidency is very moving. This is one time I hope to be proved wrong, put aside partisan politics and wish him the best for our nations sake.

Re: As someone who didn't vote for Obama...
agreed..i didnt vote for him either...and honestly Im still on the fence. no doube he is an inspiring person, but i just dont think he has the experience. Time will tell.
But it seems as if countries around the world already like us better and that alone is a good thing.
Hes got a very long rough road ahead of him..i wish him luck!

Re: As someone who didn't vote for Obama...
I hope this doesn't sound trite but I think this was a really nice post, thank you!
As an Obama supporter, I appreciate your sentiment and applaud you for sharing the way you feel.
Yes, he has a VERY long road ahead of him and I'm sure the mess this country is currently in will not be solved in one or two terms; but if we, as a country, can at least be on the same page and work TOGETHER we CAN eventually accomplish what needs to get done!

Re: As someone who didn't vote for Obama...
I was not a fan. I wanted Hillary.
I did vote for him because he was better than McCain and I believed in most of his policies, but not because I was a fan of him per se.
But I have definitely come around in the last few weeks.
He's very realistic about things and I think if he can keep up that perspective he will be one of our most respected presidents.
