At what age was your DC off the bottle?

My DS is 15 months and drinks his milk from a bottle still. He will drink water from a sippy no problem but if I put milk in it, he just throws it. My son had his 15 month well visit yesterday and the ped was adamant that I get him off the bottle NOW. I don't remember exactly but I thought my DD was still using a bottle until almost 18 months.

Is 15 months too old for a bottle?

DS came off at 1. I couldnt get him off of it at first so I spoke with my doctor. He told me to swap out the good stuff....I put juice, milk...etc in the sippy cup and only water in the bottle. Trust me...he learned very quickly to prefer the sippy cup.

my boys were 2 when they came off the bottle's but with that said they only had the bottles for bed and naptime. sippy cups all other times.

summerluvv helped me through that one. she had some good advice for help. that was one thing i didnt listen to the peds with though, i fig it would happen whent there ready.

DD was using sippy cups during the day and one bottle in the morning and one at night at 11 months. At 16 months it was only sippy cups by accident - I was out at the beach one night & didn't have a bottle - only a cup & she drank from it & went to sleep & from then on - no more bottles. I immediately removed all traces of them from the house - that helped.

Lucas off the bottle at 13 or 14 months. Our ped was surprised...he said that at 18 months he starts suggesting that parents start trying to stop bottle use.

DS was 13 months old when I took him off the bottle cold turkey.

a little over 15 months and still uses it. I can't find a sippy cup that he likes. I don't even know how to transition.

About 13 months she was completely done with bottles.

DD transitioned very easily from the bottle. She was done by 11 months...now the pacifier...that's another story....

ds is 15 months and still drinks a bottle in the AM and at bedtime. cringing at the thought of taking it away because he LOVES it

i'm kinda hoping he weans himself eventually.

18 months and it was totally random. I had no plans to take him off at all - but it just happened. My ped said he didn't care how long he was on the bottle for - if that's where he finds his comfort!

DD is 18 months and still on the bottle for all of her milk. We TRIED and TRIED to get her to use the cup for milk, but she won't...it's time to try again soon!

She has no problem chugging water all day long from the cup though

ETA: It definitely is a comfort thing for my DD, so I'm not trying to rush her.

11.5 months...she could have cared less about drinking from a bottle though

Well, you know this already, but C3 was off by 12 months.

ds is 16m still drinks from the bottel. Im going to start and give him is afternnon bottel in a sippy cup

The ped told us to try when we switched from bm to whole milk. We did & thankfully, no issues, she went right to the sippy cup. She's been around my little niece since & she hasn't even reached for the bottle.

I'd slowly take away certain bottles from times of the day until he's just getting the nighttime bottle.

DS was 14 months.

DD was off at 15 months - we had a very similar situation as you - she'd have juice from a sippy cup, but only wanted milk from a bottle. She was mad for 2-3 days and threw the sippy cup a few times, but she got used to it.

DD was 1. She was already drinking water & juice from a sippy cup. So when we started giving her milk we put it in a sippy & it worked.

DS stopped bottles completely around 8 1/2 months. He wouldn't hold his sippy cup on his own, but he had no problems if I held it for him while he drank. Then a few days before turning 9 months a light bulb went off in his head and he just grabbed the cup out of my hands and started drinking himself. I have no clue how that happened, but we haven't looked back since. He still needs help tipping the cup back for the last ounce, but once you show him he's okay.

at 18 months DS was down to one bottle in the morning when he woke up and 2 months later I have not been able to get rid of that one
