We used a vendor on here - wendi lindsey... she charged us 1k which is about the going rate

We just closed (selling) and our fee was $1000 plus $150 document prep (sigh). I think that's pretty much the going rate unless you have something really complicated.

I generally charge a flat fee of 1,000.00.

hmmmmm... we have a friend doing ours, and I was curious since I know he is not trying to rip us off, but he does mostly have corporate clients so he doesn't normally handle closings like this... but it's substantially more than that. Looks like we have an awkward convo on our hands.

No actually he was LI based. I'm not sure why we paid so much.

Ours is $60!  But that's because I'm in a union and we use a lawyer that is always on retainer.

I've worked in Real Estate Law for years. I used to work in Queens the fee was $650-$850. When I worked in Manhattan it was about $1500-$2000. When I worked in LI it was $1000-$1200.

Why is it awkward? If you are overpaying... you are overpaying.
The fact that it's a friend makes it even worse. Shouldn't "friends" be doing things cheaper anyways?
I would just say you can't pay more than $1000 since there are plenty of lawyers willing to do the deal at that price.

850 flat fee...this was a very well known attorney in the city that a family friend recommended...if you're paying a lot more for a friend I would def have a convo!!!

I am an RE attorney and we mostly handle commercial closings however when we do handle a residential closing we bill hourly. If it is a residential closing for a client our fee is anywhere from $1500-$2000 and if we are representing someone that isn't our client our fee starts at $2500.
