My bridal shower was a surprise and I understood why...I guess tradition? But I feel baby showers are different. This will not be a surprise and my mom and sisters have agreed to that.
I know it's coming, I know they are planning something, so I just want to know. I will be there to greet everyone as they come in.
I honestly don't know of many baby showers that are a surprise...all the ones I've gone to this last year have been planned along with the mom to be.
eta: can they just tell you when it is, and for the sake of your IL's, just pretend?

I also didn't have my bridal shower be a surprise. Every girl knows they are going to get both a bridal and baby shower some day...so you know they are coming. I just hate making the guests wait around for a good half hour before the guest of honor (bride/mama to be) arrives...I almost think it's rude. Most people I know dread going to showers...they are all the same. So to make people wait for me to make a grand entrance and try to surprise me....I'd just never do that to my guests.

i know about mine.. i will be there before any of the guests get there.. so i dont have to walk in like its a surpise when its not! so it will be easier to greet a few people at a time and its not so overwhelming.
ITA on this as well!
Hate doing the walk in when it's not even a surprise...I like to be there to greet people!
