They should have at least offered yout he first trimester testing which is a sono at 12 weeks. If you don't end up switching, tell them you want that test!

I didnt think it sounded right.. and I even cried in the office. I told them I wanted to know my baby had a heartbeat and was measuring correctly and all she said was "your body is carrying this pregnancy - you shouldnt think otherwise" great.. really

anyone have a GOOD doctor associated with Stonybrook?

I work at Stonybrook, and my OB is Dr Welischar 751-9595 in setauket. Any doc in that office is awesome, but she is the BEST!!!!!!!

I find that weird as well. My first appt. was at 6 weeks. I did have a sono and a pap but that was all.
The second visit I filled out all the paperwork.
Can you try another ob to help ease your worries? Hang in there. I can just advise that if you are not comfortable change now while it is still early on. You have to feel safe and able to ask questions!! Good luck!

Sorry, also my doc. took my husband and I into his office after the blood work and sat down with us. He was very comforting and answered all our questions..

Both my pregnancies I had blood work & sono at 8 weeks. That is very strange. What about the 12 week one?Chat Icon

sounds odd and i hate to say it but maybe u should find another doctor.

you already have enough going on emotionally...you shouldn't be left with bad feelings from your doctor. you need someone who pays attention to every detail just as much as you do

Please find another doctor. You deserve better treatment than that.

Re: Back from my first appointment and SO UPSET with the Dr.

It sounds like the dr. has bad bedside manners.

With #1 my dr. sent me for a sono at 6 weeks which was not in the office and the sono tech thought it was weird I was there. I didn't have any complications or previous M/C. Then I saw my dr. for the first time at 8 weeks. I had a quick sono in the office at 12 weeks because she couldn't find the heart beat with the doppler. Otherwise my next sono was at 20 weeks. I also had another growth sono at 34 weeks

With #2, my first visit was 8 weeks and I don't think I had a sono then. I want to say my first sono was 12 weeks then at 20 and 36 weeks.

I had all my bloodwork done at 16 weeks . It was my understanding that with my insurance plan, I was only aloud 2 sonograms anything more, it needed to be medically necessary. I also needed to go to a Radiology place for them. The sono's I had in her office were not official and were to check if something was wrong , when I they couldn't find #1's heart beat and with #2 I thought she turned on me again so the dr. wanted to make sure she was still head down at 37 weeks.

I really don't think your visit was out of the ordinary.

I am sorry you didn't have a good experience. I would go one more time and if you still don't feel right then switch.
