Backyard movie party.....
Anyone ever been to or had a backyard movie party (with the giant screen?)
DS's 7th birthday is in October and was tossing the idea around, but was trying to figure out ways I could make it a "fun" party ( so that it didn't feel like the kids were just coming and have to sit-down and watch a movie only, kwim?)
I would make a mock concession stand and all that stuff, but I guess I was wondering if there were any activities I could incorporate somehow....I like to do "different "stuff every year..
Or, if you think this is a cr@ppy idea, let me know that too

This sounds like such a fun idea!!
With popcorn and candy at the concession stan and a fun movie, I don't see what else you need besides pizza and cake afterwards!
Can I come?!

Since you have the giant screen and projector, you'll have control over it, so you can do other fun things with the screen that you couldn't do at a movie theater party. Have a slide show while people are gathering.
Have a trivia contest (pictures of cartoon characters, and the kids have to guess the name of the character), and hand out cheap "prizes".
If you have a webcam, I bet most of the kids would love just seeing themselves on the big screen, jumping around and being silly. Kids love seeing themselves on a TV screen, so I'm sure they'd be thrilled with a larger-than-life image of themselves.

My neighborhood association has movie night. There is a DJ company that blows up a big screen and has a projector. He also plays games with the kids before the movie.
We have issues over the summer b/c it gets dark later and the mosquitoes. October would probably be better. Pile up tons of blankets and pillows for the kids to sprawl out.

Most likely I will be hiring a company to do the actual movie screen, wonder if they could let me do something like this..Thanks!

I just looked into doing this for Sd's graduation party. I was going to use the company fun flicks. We were going to do x-box or wii and karaoke. she didnt want a movie so we just set up a tv outside.
i still want to use this company for another party.
