this is why I don't go to block parties. some ppl may think it's fun to sit outside in a pool of your own sweat eating a hot dog, but not me!

Any party is good where the host is gracious. IMO, throwing a party takes some outlay of $$ (though not necessarily a whole lot), effort, and planning. If the host wants to be a host without these things, the party will make the guests uncomfortable. IMO, it's not ok to have a restaurant "party" w/ invites, gifts, etc. where people pay for anything themselves. It's also not alright to have people over & expect them to stay outside w/o a plan B if it rains, gets hot, etc. That's my pet peeve--- ungracious hosts who want the benefit of hosting w/o work/planning. Location doesn't matter (nor does cost), so long as things are thoughtfully planned.
