Honestly, most of the things that are not edible usually end up in the garbage. So, my favorite are things that can be eaten or drunk.

I loved my bridal shower favors. My mom gave lucky bamboo plants to everyone. I have been to several people's houses since then and love seeing how much they've grown since the shower.

Anything edible. Anything else, I don't care how "useful" it seems ends up left on the table or as a dust collector or, in the trash.

Edibles are best. The cutesy things seem cute at the time but within a week I usually throw them out.

some things i've gotten-
1) tea cup with different flavored tea bags ( can always use an extra tea mug)
2) measuring spoons ( nice to have an extra set)
3) i went to one this weekend with a fall theme... and the favor was little jars of pumpkin pie spices ( the bridesmaids just went to costco and bought big things of cinnamin, nutmeg, cloves, etc and mixed it up themselves and fileld the little jars) with a recipe for pumpkin bread... VERY cute idea!

This might sound weird, but honestly it was this mini spatula (super good quality) that my friend's shower had as favors. They had tea bags and tea bag rests too, but the spatula I use by far more often than any other gift or favor I have ever gotten before:
It's perfect for everything from slicing and serving pie to moving cookies to a cooling rack to slicing lasagna. I took two of them (there were a few women who left early from our table who forgot theirs) and I am so glad because it's just fabulous.

Hey..that's a great idea!!!
Anything edible is always good, no one is to throwing away that stuff. Bath & Bodyworks stuff is good, kitchen utensils (spatulas, etc.), always useful and plants are good.
I don't like the "chatchka" stuff - ring holders, picture frames, etc. You never know what someone's taste/decor is and it's bound to not go with someone's house and will get tossed in the garbage, it's like wasting money.
I also went to one where you got a small plant and a Win For Life ticket.

That is a very cute idea!
My favorites have been:
A bottle of wine
A sleeve of chocolate chip cookies from Tate's bakery
All the chochky stuff usually goes in the garbage. Like I just got this votive candle holder the other day at a baby shower and it has babies and storks etched on it. What am I supposed to do with that?

I loved what my sister gave at my shower - silver ice-cream scoops in the shape of a heart. It is seriously the best ice-cream scoop ever and everyone who attended still raves about them. It was also 90+ degrees that so it was perfect.
