blood work Question??
I have a prescription for blood work from Nov 2008.  I never had the blood work done, and now I'm concerned about something and really want to have it run. I tried calling the lab 2 days in a row but they NEVER pick up the phone Do you think I can still use it? I know my Dr. wasn't in thurs or fris, so i didn't bother calling her office.
I guess if i can't use it I can just ask the dr. to write a new one next week, but I wanted to try to go on sat morning.

I think you'd have a problem with insurance coverage.

really? its the same insurance and how do they know its from Nov, doesn't it get processed as of the day I have the bloodwork done? Sorry I'm so clueless with this stuff

I think they input the date from the prescription. They are so nasty at the lab near my house that they just love to turn people away. I have to go for a test and I am trying a different lab!

I think it depends upon if the scrip is dated or not, but I would still call your doctor to let them know you plan on going for the tests b/c there may have been changes in testing since they wrote it.
From personal experience, I have to get my thyroid levels tested monthly b/c I am PG. The doctor that treats my thyroid gave me 8 forms filled out but not dated so I don't have to go in every month to get a new form. I then call her two days after I had the blood work done to see if I need new medication levels.
