I never used one. Hayley is on powder formula so I use room temp water for her bottles.
This is what I'm going to try. Its easier when you're out too - you dont have to worry about heating a bottle or worry about a fussy baby who will only drink a warm bottle. Some of my friends have had trouble with that.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
NEVER heat a bottle in the microwave...it can destroy BM and actually create hot spots that can burn your baby.
Molly never needed your bottles of BM warmed. In the first 4 weeks she needed formula and I always warmed that up in a cup of hot water. It was VERY easy.
Also, a microwave is very inexpensive. You may want to get a $69 one just so you can heat up meals for you and DH quickly.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
Even if you just put the bottle in the microwave for 10-12 seconds to take the chill off?

I do that and shake it really well. I didn't do it with BM however, only formula.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
We didn't need a bottle warmer. We just warmed it up in a mug of hot water and I'm sure it was just as fast as any warmer.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
I have the first years bottle warmer and I love it. It only makes the bottles too hot if you put too much water in. I didn't find it hard to at all to figure out how much water to use. I much preferred it over a mug of hot water which I had to use when at my ILs house over Thanksgiving. What a PITA. First I had to heat the water in the microwave for like 5 minutes, then wait and wait and wait for the bottle to be warm. The bottle took forever to get warm enough so the baby would take it...especially for a bottle that had been in the fridge. Four minutes in the bottle warmer certainly isn't microwave fast, but much faster than a mug for me.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
My mom picked one up for me when Joseph was 8 mos. I found it pretty useful for heating up bottles & baby food jars.

I have the Night and Day Bottle Warmer and I loved it. It has a cooling compartment to hold 2 bottles. We have a 2 story house and when DS was eating every 2-3 hrs it was convenient to have all the bottles I needed for the night next to me.

My friend told me today that she has it and loves it. She packs it up before she goes upstairs for bed and she is set for the night.

We did the same with Aidan never heated a bottle, used room temp bottled water.
Personally even if I heated them I wouldn't use a microwave, I really feel that micro-ing plastic is not safe with all the chemicals in the plastic.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
I'm also registered for the one with the cooling compartment. I figure that it will be easier to have everything handy at night. I can load the thing with the right amount of water before putting the baby to bed, and then at "feeding time" just turn it on and the bottle will be warm in no time. I think this will also be very helpful for DH, who will be responsible for the night feedings 3 times a week, as I work overnight.

Got one as a gift altho I didnt register for it....
I hear differing opinions about its usefulness. Register for the 20 dollar model, and if you dont like it you can always return it I suppose. On a side note, how do you not have a microwave!!!!!
same here or a mug of hot water........

Re: Bottle Warmers...
I got a bottle warmer for my shower, and I never returned it (I forgot) and I never used bottles with Andrew (he was BF). However, once he started on cereal and jarred fruits and veggies, I would plop the jar in it to heat it up to room temp if the jar had been in the fridge. So it was helpful to me that way.

Re: Bottle Warmers...
I didn't register for one, but a friend gave me her Advent one. She said she liked it because she wouldn't have to go down to the kitchen during night feedings. I don't know of I'll ever use it, we'll see.

We didn't get one. Sarah takes her bottles room temperature or cold from the fridge.
