Breast feading in public. The view protest.
Did anyone hear this?
Barbra walters said that she was on a plane were a lady was breast feeding her child. Another passanger commented that it made them uncomfortable. So a bunch of mothers went to the view studio and sat out front on the sidewalk and breast fed their children.
OK She said it made another passanger uncomfortable not her!
AND I am one for free speach free everything BUT I will admit this makes me very uncomfortable to. I have no idea why I know its a natural thing but it does make me uncomfortable.

ok, I wasnt going to post this, because I got shot down last time this was posted.
I know this is anature of life, but I went to a restuarant and a lady was breastfeeding her child at the table with NO blanket over her breasts.
I felt she should have either covered herself, or go in the bathroom or in the labby to do it.
I DO NOT want to see your breasts while Im eating.
This is MY opinion, so Im sorry if anyone is offended.
Im intitled to my opinion, just as you are.

Personally, I don't think I would ever breast feed in public, as I would be way too uncomfortable. However, on an airplane, where is a woman supposed to breast feed?

I completely agree, I don't have anything against breastfeeding in public but you should be covered.

i agree 100%! when i was in HS, the city bus would be PACKED, and women would be sitting there completely uncovered, breast feeding, while i was standing above them trying not to fall into it. completely inappropriate. both of my SILs breast feed, and never once have i seen their boobies. they even make clothes now that cover it up.

I know plenty of women that breastfeed and don't have to whip out there boob for the world to see. There are modest ways of doing it. For those that haven't figured it out please bf being closed doors.

I agree with you 100%. It is very easy to cover your breasts with a blanket.
It's super easy - but if the baby is like one of my nieces, it is easier said than done. She doesn't want anything covering her when she is nursing - and if you try to cover her head, she becomes fussy or curious about the covering and won't eat.
I think if a woman has to nurse in public, do it - I have no problem...I don't care if she covers herself or not.
It's b/c of our society and their view of breasts as sexual objects - instead of the utilitarian objects that they are - that the majority of people feel uncomfortable when a woman has to feed her child.
IMO.

IMO.
I agree with you on that! people in other countries laugh at us for that reason, And thats why I think its so strange that I feel this way since im one thinks people blow things out of proportion.

hasn't something similar happened before? I seem to remember a similar protest where a whole bunch of women all brestfed at a Barnes and Noble, or a Boarders, after one woman was asked to use the restroom to breastfeed...

i was eating at a restaurant too nad the same thing! a woman was breastfeeding her baby right there.. not giving a care in the world.
it just makes me feel unconfrotable sometimes too.
i understnad that the baby needs to eat, but there are other options.... pump, bring baby to bathroom, outside, etc.....
i just think sometimes the mohter should have a little more respect for teh feelings of strangers around her.
if shes in a park by herself and thers no one really around, fine whatever... BUT if youre in a pakced place, like a restaurant, plane, etc... be respectfu lto the person who is sitting so close to you your arms are touching! they dont need/want to see that.

"Can't they pump?" is like the people who think women should nurse in public bathroom's instead of at a table. I don't know about you but I've never eaten a meal on a toilet.......
As for the protest - I suppose it was to bring attention to the issue. Granted Barbara didn't say the comment but the protest is going to force her to talk about it again. Maybe since she doesn't have a problem with it, she can enlighten her viewers who do.

well then if they dont want to feed in the restroom they should leave or have timed it better and gone out to the reatsuarant/place AFTER teh baby has fed.
