Posted by Lolita4Life BUT if youre in a pakced place, like a restaurant, plane, etc... be respectfu lto the person who is sitting so close to you your arms are touching! they dont need/want to see that.
(I'm not picking on you )
But I just don't get why people are looking! What is it your business?? The women who are BF'ing in public are NOT committing a crime - leave them alone.
Again, JMO.

Can't they pump?
Whatever the point is that Barbara walters didnt say she didnt like it. She said she was on a plane with SOMEONE that didn't like it why protest the show
"Can't they pump?" is like the people who think women should nurse in public bathroom's instead of at a table. I don't know about you but I've never eaten a meal on a toilet.......
As for the protest - I suppose it was to bring attention to the issue. Granted Barbara didn't say the comment but the protest is going to force her to talk about it again. Maybe since she doesn't have a problem with it, she can enlighten her viewers who do.
OK I don't understand I didn't say they should goto a bathroom to do this but I have been trying to have a baby for a year and nothing has happened. Im not lucky enough to be a mother I was asking can't they pump cause I really don't know? I was not being a b!tch. Can you explain to me why they can't?

I don't think it's the same thing at all. What's the problem with pumping? It certainly sounds more pleasant than nursing in the restroom.

Because it's a personal decision between PARENTS - not an uptight society.
Because sometimes babies become nipple-confused - and if given a bottle, either will no longer accept the breast or won't accept the bottle. Then what, let the baby starve b/c some people are uncomfortable?

dont worry i dont feel picked on.. its just our differeence in opinions. i feel it is distracting. i am not staring, but when ytou see some woman whip it out and im sitting RIGHT there (its a REALLY tight fit at this place) how can i NOT look. i dont think shes commitng a crime,.. but i do feel its alittle rude.

Re: Breast feading in public. The view protest.
It is possible to breastfeed discreetly. I was sitting two feet from my aunt once (I was about 10) and you could barely notice.
It's not something that bothers me but I also would not want to see a woman's naked boob flopping about when I was trying to eat a meal in a restaurant.

breastfeeding shouldnt be done in public restaurants IMO.
if they dont want to pump.. then feed the baby BEFORE you go out! its that simple.

LOL I think a lot of women who pump will tell you there's nothing "pleasant" about the barbaric looking contraption they use to extract breast milk. I answered the pumping question in another post...

LOL No it isn't! A mother is practically a slave to a nursing baby - there is no telling a baby that you will feed her at 5:30, so that you can go out - instead of her usual 6:30 feeding. That's just not going to happen.

OR go somewhere, like a bathroom or a car and do it..
I don't think it should be done (if not discreetly) in ANY public place

i think she meant how some people pump into bottles before going out... in which to prevent having to whip it out. i feel this is much more respectful.

Re: Breast feading in public. The view protest.
All I know is, I don't want to see ANYONE'S pink parts in public. Be it male, female, breastfeeding, peeing, low cut clothing. I just don't want to see it.
eta: and I KNOW that my cousins do NOT even bring their babies out for a long enough period of time that they need to be fed in public. They come home and breast feed there.

Re: Breast feading in public. The view protest.
Can I just ask WHO here actually eats their meals on a toilet? I mean, that's disgusting - yet it's OK for a woman to sit on a dirty toilet to feed her baby???
How many public restrooms have you been in that had a chair or a sofa for nursing women, let alone a changing table?!??

OK, I'm going to agree to disagree with you. I don't have a baby but I'm around a lot of babies and there is just NO WAY to plan your life around a nursing baby.
I just don't think a lot of people are understanding that it's just not as simple to do as it is to say.

Re: Breast feading in public. The view protest.
why should everyone ELSE in the palce have to just deal with the woman breastfeeding and be understnading of HER? why cant SHE see that not everyone wants to see this and she should be respectful of other peoples' comfort levels?
no one here is saying its WRONG, but i feel there are more options that would be more respectful when out in public.
eta: i think this is more an issue of how people could be more DISCREET about it. if youre gonna do it fine, but like i said there are more respectful ways then just plling it out for the world to see.

I guess it's more that I just don't understand WHY people are so uncomfortable about a mother feeding her child.
Maybe women who "whip out their breast" (which I've rarely seen - most women are very discreet) don't see why them feeding their child is so inappropriate when our society sees nothing wrong with half naked women prancing around our TV's or magazine covers or movies.
Half naked women seem to be accepted only when they are exploiting themselves - but not when they are FEEDING THEIR CHILD.
Seems assinine to me.

I DISAGREE STRONGLY WITH THIS!!! Did you hear about the protest thats going on with the carls Jr. add with Paris hilton or the protest over the L word ad? Or the ad in NJ that was for some kind of beer and people protested it.

I have nothing against breastfeeding...I myself would never do it. But, to breastfeed in public is just something I don't agree with and think the woman should make every effort to cover herself or go somewhere private.
