I BF for a while with no confusion issues and use MAM's. They just turned 1 and for the last 3-4 months I have them throw the binkies in the crib after naps and when they wake up. They really only have them in the car and for naps/bedtime

My DS loves the soothie...and around 6 weeks old discovered his thumb, which he now prefers over the Soothies.

thanks everyone. I didn't find MAM's but did find soothie's at target.
we tried it out for the first time yesterday...I am sort of stupid about when all he wants to do is suck vs when he is legitimately hungry...but he's been good so far at letting me know  I can only pull the wool over his eyes for so long 
we'll see how this goes.

I know how you feel, when DD#1 was born they actually came in my room from the nursery and asked if the could give her a pacifier because she had such a strong suck drive. We used the Gerber Nuk brand and it went well. we took it away just before and year and it was easy.

my dd took a soothie paci, and at the age of 3 months she spit it out and hasnt used it since. thank goodness we dont have to break that habit however she sucks her thumb!!!

same here!
but were they BF from the breast? My son did not like it either but he was bottle fed. I think that a lot of BF babies like the Soothie but a lot of bottle fed babies do not. I would have wanted to use the Soothies because they are easier to clean. The Nuk ones have crevices that get dirty so easily but my son loves his Nuks.
My DS is mainly breastfed, but I do supplement with formula at night, so he drinks from a bottle as well.
