BTDT mom's best pads for after birth?
Can you ladies recommend which pads you thought were the best for pp bleeding? Also how many should we pack for the hospital/have at home? One big box from BJ's enough? Also any tips or tricks like certain underwear, etc.. you found to make wearing a pad more comfortable. TIA!!!

Re: BTDT mom's best pads for after birth?
I used the ones from the hospital. Those were really the best ones I found. I had a great nurse who hooked me up big time!
I also took a bunch of the disposible undies they provided in the hospital. I took so many that I still have left over and I will pack for this baby!

I used the same pads I regularly use - Always ultra thin. I had bought the big thick ones but found I really didn't need them. I wore granny panties for a while, but that was more because I didn't want anything hitting my incision than because of the bad.

Re: BTDT mom's best pads for after birth?
In the hospital they provided all the pads I needed. I even took a box home with me when I left. I just went to CVS and bought overnight maxi pads to wear once the hospital ones ran out. I bought a cheap pack of underwear at Target. I bought cotton granny panties in a size bigger than I am and wore those in the hospital and once I got home...that way if I ruined them I wouldn't mind throwing them out.

I normally use the Always ultra thin ones - I bought a package of the thick ones for after I gave birth - they worked very well!

After I was done with those pads I just picked up whatever big overnight ones were on sale.

Always overnight pads. I tried the hospital ones, but I used my own after the first shower.

Re: BTDT mom's best pads for after birth?
Thank you ladies! I will try the hospital ones, but have some of my own as back up in case I don't like them. My FSIL is a surgeon so I am going to ask her to snag me a box of those disposable undies. Also I am sure the nurses will sneak stuff if you ask. We live in DC so my mom is going to bring NY bagels down when she comes to the hospital for the nurses. I figure that will get me in good with them.

I used the ones from the hospital. My nurse was awesome and sent me home with several bags. But after that I just bought "Always" the regular one. I was lucky and didnt bleed that heavy.

The ones from the hospital were great - I ended taking home an unopened package that lasted a while.
Other than that, Always Overnight Long with wings (every kind of protection you could ask for ).

Ditto... nurse hooked me up. I used their pads and their underwear for a week or so after. I had a c-section and was bleeding a lot. Their underwear stretched so it didn't hurt the scar and the pads worked well too.

I used the always ultra thin that i always used. I just got the long ones and they worked better and felt soo much more comfortable than the ones from the hospital.

Re: BTDT mom's best pads for after birth?
I may be in the minority but I HATED the hospital pads and the mesh underwear. The pads were too long, too thick, completely uncomfortable, and always felt wet to me - so gross. I tried the new Always Infinity pads - the overnight and the regular with wings I think (orange and green wrappers respectively) and I think they're awesome. The top stays nice and dry and they absorb A LOT while still being super thin. Much better than any pad I've ever tried before though I generally stick to tampons.

same here! if you let them know you like them - the nurses will very likely give you a container of them!

I used always overnight with wings. I'm so glad I brought them with me. I hated the hospital ones.

Re: BTDT mom's best pads for after birth?
i loved the ones from the hospital- used them with the disposable blue chucks they give you too. Then i used overnights (not sure which brand- but they were long and with wings). For undies- i bought a couple packs of granny's. i felt like they held it all together. i got white so i could just bleach them after every use- and if they got messy, just threw them out (i think you can get a 5 pack for lik $5 at walmart).
I also brought home a few of those chucks (not the disposable kind) from the hospital. We had just bought new furniture (couch, bed, etc), and i was worried about any leaks. i put 1 on my couch where i sat and 1 on my bed. It made it more comfortable for me b/c i was overly concerned then about any leaks.
