BTDT Moms.. how fast did you progress (dilation/effacement) towards at the end?

Had my appt today at 39w5d. Only 1.5cm and 40% effaced. I know the numbers don't mean much, but I can't even fathom how they can say "you can still go at any minute" when there are so many centimeters between what I am now and ten!

Did anyone go from low dilation to labor pretty quickly?

I only had three internals but at each one I was only a fingertip, maybe 1cm.

I finally went into labor at 41 weeks 1 day, and after being in regular labor (1 min long, 2-3 min apart) for four hours I was STILL only 1-2cm dilated. It took another two hours to progress to barely 3cm when I begged them to admit me so I could get the damn epi!

So for me, my internals were not a predictor of when I went into labor at all.

I wasnt dialated or effaced at my 41 weeks appointment. I went into labor less than 24 hours later.

I went from 0cm Friday to 1 cm Monday morning to 5cm Tuesday afternoon. Not sure when it progressed though.

Baby is coming next week and aint NOTHING doing down there. I have a cervix like Fort Knox ERGO c-section.

I was 1-2 cm for almost 6 weeks....then finally went into labor with DD. No rhyme or reason.

Put it this way.... I sat at just over 3cm for about 2 weeks. Went to the hospital to be induced and zoomed from 4cm to 10 in about 25 minutes.

It really CAN happen at any time.

At 38 weeks I was not dilated at all and only 30% effaced. I went into labor 6 days later.

when i got to the hospital with DS, i was being induced. I was 3.4-4 cm
from the time they started the pitocin at noon until he was born was 9 hours

he was born at 9:10

Thanks ladies, this helps. All last week, up until my appointment we'd say "she could come at any time!!!" Now it feels like she won't be coming for at least a week and there is NO good reason to believe that!

By 37 weeks I was 3cm dilated and 75% effaced. Never even felt a contraction.

At 38w5d I started having contractions. My water broker at noon. And at noon I was still only 3cm but 100% effaced. It then took me nearly 10 hours with pitocin to get to 10cm.

My water broke around 1am. I was 2cm and 80% effaced. I labored slow all night. By 7am I was only 3 CM and got pitocin. By 11am I was 10cm and ready to push.

I was a finger tip dialated and 85% effaced for three weeks. I went in for an appointment on 38 w 6 days and was exactly the same. Went into labor that night and less that 12 hours later i was 5 centimeters dialated and had my DS at 358pm the next day!!!

i was 2cm and 50% for over a month, was induced, didnt progress all night, and then went from 3cm, 70% to fully dilated and effaced in 2 hours.

I was 1.5 cms at 35 weeks. at 35wk6 days (i had fallen and went to get checked) I was 2cms.
went into labor 5 days later and was 3 cms at the hospital. Went from 3-10 in 3hrs

I started to feel contractions at 37.5 wks. each one was 6 minutes apart. Went to the hospital. Cervix is closed. No dilation. Came home at 11:30pm.
AT 12:30am , started to feel contractions again until 5:00am when they were 2-3minutes apart. Went back to the hospital at 5:30am and was 4cm dilated...From 4-6cm it took about 6 hours....Then from 6-9cm took about 2 hours . ...Had DD at 4:18pm. So I was in labor for about 12 hours.

My water broke and I was 1/2" dialated and 0 effaced...34.5 hours LATER I was 7" dilated and 100% effaced....there is no rhyme or reason how and when it will happen!

If I remember correctly...

38 weeks I was 1/2 cm dilated.
39 weeks I was 1.5 cm dilated.
DD was born 39 weeks 4 days... labor started around 9am and by 12:30 we were at the hospital and I was already 7cm! She was born about 3 hours later!!

At my first internal- 38 weeks- I wasn't dilated at all. Zero.

The next week I was just about a fingertip if he "pushed really hard"

5 days later I went to L&D with contractions and was 4-5 cm!

So it can move FAST!

At 38 weeks/1 day my cervix was closed tight; exactly one week later I started mild contractions, and at 7 am I was only 1 cm but 80% effaced! I went into the hospital at 7 pm and was 6 cm and 90% effaced, DS was born 4 1/2 hours later! It can come FAST!

At 39.5w I was 0% dilated and 0% effaced - at that point, the appt was set up for 1.5w out for an induction...
4 days later I gave birth to my daughter - very quickly, I might add LOL

It was ~8.5h from first (felt) contraction (which was more like a weird, numbed cramp feeling) to delivery. I progressed about 2-3cm every 2hrs.
