BTDT Moms question about diapers and wipes?

DH mentioned to me he wanted to use his Tip money to start stocking up on diapers and wipes! At first I thought this was a great Idea but then I thought in my lurking on the parenting board some peole prefer one brand over another.

So tell me is there really a difference on which brand of diapers and wipes I should use?

Your DC may have issues with one brand (leak, rash) and not with another.

I would buy some diapers for when the baby gets home, but that's it. Also, my boys are constantly growing out of diapers - my 9 month old is now in size 6's - so you really don't want to have too many of one size being that you don't know how big your child will be.

ETA: can he just keep the money seperate that way when it's time to buy you already have the funds for it? KWIM!

My kids always did well with Pampers and one time I tried Huggies and they leaked. But for my SIL it was the other way around.So I think it just depends on what works best for your baby. You might want to buy some of each brand and then maybe return the others once you find a brand you want to stick with.

Well, to answer....DS got a nasty rash from Huggies overnites so I stay away from all Huggies and use Pampers Baby Dry. Don't like Huggies Wipes either....I actually like the BJs brand the best!

Yep He was 26 pounds last week at his nine month appointment

I would suggest waiting- get a box of one kind, a box of another, but don't stock up on any one brand until after the baby comes because every baby is different.
What works for one baby may not work for another.
I found that Huggies leaked a lot and she soaked through them- others swear by them.
I happen to like Pampers and I also foudn that Luvs works well for her and is cheaper

Pampers have worked the best for Sophia, I felt they are softer on her skin then huggies, and she rarely leaks in them

thanks everyone ... I guess I will not stock up on diapers but I am thinking and it seems from some of you that wipes dont really matter so maybe Ill get small stock on those now!

There is a difference in the diapers, not as much difference in wipes. Also, you don't know how big LO will be at birth, DS barely fit in NB diapers and we've been using size one since coming home from the hospital. Also, you don't know if they will have any reactions to the diapers or wipes so I was hesitant to stock up on anything prior to his arrival. Instead, each time we got paid, we would take some money and put it onto a prepaid Visa card that you can add money to whenever you want. You can buy them at Walmart and add money to the card whenever you want, this was the only Visa card that I could find that you could add money to, there was a $3 fee to purchase it and then you register it online and they send you a regular visa with your name on it and everything, we also got one for DH. we didn't want to go into our savings or use our regular credit cards once LO arrived so over the months that I was pregnant we put about $1500 onto the card to use for diapers, wipes, formula, etc. the essentials that we would need once DS arrived while I'm on maternity leave. This has worked great for us and we haven't felt the impact on our bank account. HTH, good luck!

my little guys is only 3 weeks and i already hate huggies. he leaked out of every one in the packages we had. i'm using pampers now. i also went to size 1 pretty fast cuz i just think they are more absorbant than the NB size even though he's still pretty little. so if i were you i wouldn't buy too many diapers beforehand. buy 1 jumbo pack or a couple small packs of different brands and test them out to see what you like.
as for wipes i have no opinion cuz i don't use them. i think they are too harsh so i use wet paper towels instead. i might try the sensitive ones at some point.

love pampers, hate huggies. As for wipes, I'm still on my first box of pampers wipes, and I don't think they are wet enough. I only bought 1 box of nb and 1 box of wipes, some babies go str8 into size 1. My first did, my second was small. Don't buy to much!
