Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
things that made me happy to have
* my own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (I felt like a brand new person after that) * thick socks or slipper socks * nursing nightgown (I hated the hospital gowns) * lysol spray and clorox wipes for the bathroom

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I used my yoga pants, socks and my granny underwear.
The only other stuff I used was my toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, deodorant...etc)
I didn't bring anything for the baby (DH just brought the take home outfit up the day we were released from the hospital).

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I had an emergency c-section so DH had to pack a bag for me. The things I needed the most were:
-comfy robe -socks/slippers to wear around the room and halls that you will throw out after your stay -chapstick -hair ties -tooth brush and toothpaste -deodorant -shampoo/soap -clothes to go home in -outfit for the baby to go home in -camera
I thought I would need pjs and makeup but never used them and ended up staying in the hospital gown the 5 days I was there because the nurses and doctors were always checking me and it was just so comfortable staying in them. It was also very convenient with breastfeeding.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I totally overpacked. I used nothing at all during the labor and delivery. I tried sucking on a lollipop, and instantly threw it out. In my room I used 2-3 pairs of sweats (the ice packs kept making them wet), 2 tshirts/tank tops, slippers, my going home outfit and DDs. A friend brought me a comfy pillow, which was really nice.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I packed light because I knew that I wouldn't need half of the items on those hospital lists.. they were sooo long....I really only used:
Coming home outfits...obviously! Bathrobe..# 1 thing I used!!!! Slippers.. important to walk the hallways toiletries: shampoo, soap,toothbrush... camera cell phone charger Baby Book... to get footprints Makeup... made me feel better hairbrush
To be honest... I wore the hospital gown and my robe the whole time, I had a C Section and did not feel like getting dressed, and it was more comfortable.
They give you disposable underwear which is wonderful since I was bleeding alot and did not want to wear my own underwear.
I brought a nursing tank top, but it's easier to just nurse with the hospital gown on.
They give you maxi pads, so you do not need your own, you go through them quite frequently.
I did not bring snacks... family and friends were always bringing food, I had a room full of it.
I brought a book to read but never opened it... mostly DD was in my room and all I wanted to do was stare at her. And at night when DD was in the nursery, all I wanted to do was try and sleep.
Make sure to pack all the copies of any paperwork, although I wound up not needing them.

Everything. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I think the only thing I did not use was the book I brought b/c I was nursing DS every 2 hours & did not have time to read.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I packed WAY too much!! All I ended up wearing were my pajama pants at night and yoga/sweatpants during the day. I also had a few of the nursing tank tops which were perfect. I had a c-section and actually found regular brief underwear to be comfy for me (I was way uncomfortable in the granny style ones). Chapstick!! Having your own pads is nice then you don't have to wear the big bulky ones. Obviously your camera, call phone and chargers. Other then that, I used what they gave me. I brought the boppy but never really used it. Oh and I would have loved to have my Snoogle there- I probably would have slept a lot better.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
This is what I used that I brought:
toiletries my own robe and night gown (only wore if for one night thought and not the night I delivered) clothes to come home in Underwear that came up to my belly button( the hanes 5 or 6 pack) in a size you would be around 20 weeks. For DS I didn't do that and the undies were a little loose but still kept everything in place. For DD it was much better. Socks Clothes for the baby to come home in and that was it
I filled up my bag with so much stuff with DS and I barely used any of it.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I totally overpacked - DH almost had a fit because I brought so much stuff and then in the end, I didn't use much.
Here's what I really used:
1. Moist towelettes/makeup remover clothes (the wet ones) - great for freshining up! 2. Pajamas - 2 pairs. Although I ended up with a c-section, I used the hospital gowns for the first 2 days, but then it was good to wear my own stuff. 3. Granny panties. You will need at least 3 pairs. 4. Your own pads or Depends. 5. Socks with traction (those rubbery things on the bottom). I had 2 pairs. 6. Body spray/fragrance. Helps you to feel fresh and clean. 7. Contacts/glasses/solution, etc. 8. Boppy - I used it for feeding DD and for keeping my legs elevated.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
I ended up having a c-section. I wore the hospital gown and robe most of the time. I was in a lot of pain and it was just easier to wear that while BFing. I used slippers, flip flops, socks, toiletries, brush, chapstick and a hair dryer. I had a horrible allergic reaction to the mesh underwear so I was glad I had a few cheap pairs of underwear with me. If you end up with a c-section, high cut underwear is best. I didn't want anything near my incision.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
oh, I'll add one thing... I disagree with the pads.... the hospital ones (while super bulky) are softer and smoother than modern thin pads (with a textured top layer).... that slight texturing was when I transferred to home pads 4 days after delivery (I had a few stitches that it irritated)... try it for yourself... but definitely try the hospital pads....

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
small travel size shampoo and conditioner brush deoderant-you will be smelly lol razor-if you want to shave hairties slippers robe socks pads-Kotex overnights were awesome! cell phone your own pillows-bring 2-you can use them during delivery to help prop your back, or if you are laying on your side comfy pants and shirt for the day in the hospital bra and underwear wear their night gowns at night chapstick snacks for you after you deliver make-up if you want to look & feel a little human a portable dvd player & dvd for your room-I watch a movie with DS one day camera & batteries
Then for baby bring onesies (2) socks (2) outfit (2) burpcloth (1) blanket (1) hat (1)
That is all I can really remember using, and I definitely brought more than this (which was not even used).

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
ipod port SLIPPERS flip flops for shower comfy clothes (clothes to walk the halls, since they want you up and walking) Nursing tops & boppy if you plan to BF socks camera phone full underwear
A lot of stuff I packed for the hospital was "old" stuff, so I could throw it out at hospital on the last day. This way I did not have to pack slippers, flip flops, toothpaste, etc. I had all new stuff waiting at home and not much to unpack, plus I am a germ freak and I don't want pillows/slippers, etc I used at the hopital home with me.

Re: BTDT MOMS: What did you really use from your hospital bag
i agree with all the mommys who already posted, but i wanted to add...
i brought cheap cheap slippers from target that i threw away when i left the hospital. i was soooooooooo glad i had these. probably TMI, but i actually peed all over the floor when i first stood up from my bed when the nurse asked me to try going to teh bathroom. i had NO IDEA i even had to pee. She said that sometimes happens. Lukcly i didn't ruin anything i cared about! = )
Also brought my own pillow, my boppy so i could get used to it, definitely tight panties, and going home outfits for me and DS.
Brought a million other things but really didn't use ANYTHING.
I actually stayed in bed pretty much with the big pads that the hospital provided - those were the best. I didn't wear pants for a while, i jsut wore a buttoned pajama shirt so i could easily nurse. Eventually i put the pants on. LOL.
Good luck!!!
