The bumbo- barely used it
Bottle warner- we returned it
Bottle sterilizer- returned it
Sleep sheep- stopped using because it turned off after 45 min.s and DS would wake up. Went and bought a sound machne that stayed constantly on.
that's about it, I feel like we got alot of use out of everything else we got.
Agree 100% with this...ESP the sleep sheep! Such a waste!

The a car seat base. We never used the one in my dh car. We either used my car or I am with her all the time in my car. I am a sahm. If he did have her we either swathed cars or the base is so easy to install and uninstall.
Now if you both work and are going to take turns picking dc up or drop off I can see it being better to have 2

The pack n play was huge and took up space and was a complete waste. If you are short on space and want something for the baby to sleep in get the Fisher Price Rock n Play newborn sleeper. It folds up
i was actually just looking into this exact product to use in place of a bassinet. our bedroom would be pretty tight with a bassinet so i was looking at this instead
Crashing--but please don't use this item in place of a bassinet at the beginning. My sister used this and my nephew got a flat spot on his head from it. Her pediatrician said this item did not have to pass the same safety specifications for sleeping and it should NOT be used for this purpose. Once in a while, fine, but not every night for months.
Babies can get a flat spot in their head from laying flat in anything- even a bassinet or crib. This is actually made for nightly sleep if you look at the specs. My DD was in it for 5 months and is fine... as well as SEVERAL of my friends and families babies. I made the ped aware this was what she was sleeping in- they never told me it wasn't ok....
I'm also a HUGE fan of the Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper... agree with NervousNell that babies can get a flat spot from crib or bassinet...not just this. My DD did actually start to develop a flat spot on one side so we just turned her head every night when we put her to sleep...the flat spot corrected and was never an issue. The AAP actually approved this item for a safe sleeping device...it is the only bassinet-type thing that they approve for sleeping...so it's actually safer than any bassinet. I couldn't recommend this item more...it's fairly new to the market - just in the last year or so and honestly I don't know how mom's survived without this. It's my #1 can't live without baby item. Get it - total space saver and like Nell said you can fold it up and take with you to a friends house if you are just going for a visit or dinner...even if your DC isn't sleeping at the time - it's just a great seat to take on the go for sitting in/hanging out in. DD was in it her first 4 mos of life...day and night!

Re: BTDT Moms: What regsitry items did you end up NOT needing?
Bassinet-waste of money. DD slept in her swing until she was close to 6 months old and we put her in the crib.
We are EBFing so for us-bottle warmers, sterilizers, and for that matter, bottles. She refused them at 2 months. And pacifiers go in that category. I would register for bottles, but a pot of boiling water sterilizes them and a cup of hot water warms them.
I personally loved the bumbo and fed her in there for quite some time.
You don't need an exersaucer and jumperoo. I would choose one.

Re: BTDT Moms: What regsitry items did you end up NOT needing?
See, we used our pack and play a lot. We used it on the first floor of our house and it came handy during naps and diaper changes. When he was older we used it so he could play when I couldn't watch him (i.e during making dinner).
My suggestion is to register for what you think you need. Don't open anything that you might not need immediately. Return anything you might not use and get a credit and then buy anything you may need in the future. I did this and had almost a $400 credit. I used it for things he needed when he was older - i.e food feeding items, walkers. You are never going to get everything you need so having that credit helps.

see now i'm a huge fan of our pack and play.. I live in a 2 story house so it came in handy after my c section when I couldn't go upstairs to ds room.. and now that he is crawling I have to have him in it whenever I go down to do laundry or go in the shower.. it has been my lifesaver.. bassinet could have gone either way with.

If you plan on taking the baby anywhere overnight then you'll need a PNP. We kept the PNP downstairs and used the changing table on it all the time. We also took with us when we went away and DS slept in that. He'll be able to sleep in it for awhile longer so I think its worth it. In fact nobody bought us one so we went out and bought it ourselves.
Same...
. I also love my bottle warmer and my wipes warmer--two things I didnt even put on my registry bc I thought they were so silly!

Re: BTDT Moms: What regsitry items did you end up NOT needing?
Honestly nothing really. I only reg. for thing I would need/want/use in the 1st 4-months. I decide to wait on a con. car seat, babyy gates, and so on. Just the newborn/6mon under stuff. Our house is small and I didn't want to store a ton. We did not tell what we were having because we knew we wanted more kids and did not want ANY gender specific things.
Edited to add what I asked for/got/LOVE
Chicco Key Fit 30 travel system...LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I found the stroller to be lightweight and soooooo easy to use. When we have anotehr I will get the Chicco twin stroller! IMHO this is more then enough and there is no need for a snap and go also. Just this. DD LOVES her stroller
Sony 900mhz baby monitor.....LOVE it!!! It's a basic model and I swear it's the only one I found that works in a small place with lots of electronics.
Fisher Price Whale bathtub. I really liked this and she was in this until about 11 months! It's so cute. It doesn't fold up but we just leave it in the bathtub and when we shower we put it on the floor in the bathrrom and then when done back into shower it goes. Works for us.
We got the hoppy days bouncer and the My Lil Lamb swing and I COULD NOT have lived without it. Yes it's a lot, but my DD LOVED them both!
My 2 other suggestions are: exasaucer and Sophie the giraff. Both are for about 4-5months but she LOVES them both and I swear I was up on amazon.com one sprng night paying overnight shipping for Sophie....she is THAT good as a teether. We got the Baby Einstein Jumper, and while she likes it she is IN LOVE with my Mom's fisher price rainforest exasaucer.
Oh and the Baby Einstein under water style play mat and a bumbo seat. She LOVED the mat......could be there forever if I would have let her. The bumbo was nice to help her sit up straight and she really liked it.
My one "splurge" suggestion is a twilight turtle. It's awesome and she loves it as well.....
Whem, that's more then I thought. To summerize
Travel System Bumbo Seat Activity Mat Exasaucer Bouncer and Swing Basic baby Monitor Baby Bathtub Sophie and Twilight Turtle as splurges I also suggest Tommee Tippee or Mam bottles. They helped her colic A LOT. HTH!!!

Re: BTDT Moms: What regsitry items did you end up NOT needing?
Hi Jackie! We live in a 1b apt and registered and got the min. for space reasons. Mostly everything I got I used. we got a jumper rather than exersaucer & jumper. also got it when she was about 3m. She loves it. Bright Starts Comfort & Harmony Bouncer I prob would have past on and just got the one that we have now. Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker Chair. I have 2 infant carriers(the ones you wear) I only used them like a handful of times. Prob would have skipped that. I also would have registered for Fisher price 2-in-1 mobile rather than the one that I ended up getting which went with the bedding.
we got graco sweetpeace swing which she loved. i thought it took up less room than the normal swings. the base isnt that big. also if your getting graco snugride car seat it clicks into the base which is pretty cool. She uses the pack & play (we got the one with the newborn sleeper) sometimes she liked sleeping in that part when she was newborn. Now she uses it to stand up in. I wouldnt have past on that.

Video Monitor. $200 dollar gift and we rarely used it.
So funny; I'd say the video monitor is a MUST.HAVE! lol
Me too....without a doubt!!!
We never used bottle warmer (cup of hot water works) or sterilizer (dishwasher or boiling water works!)
I know people said they didn't use the pack n play but even if you won't use it in your house I would get one for when you are out or travel. I used mine and MIL's all the time.
I loved my travel swing. (fisher price take long swing) I returned the big one and only used the small travel one. I had the aquarium one but it looks like this one. All 3 of my kids loved it and my nephew. And it folds up pretty small

Re: BTDT Moms: What regsitry items did you end up NOT needing?
By reading all these responses, I guess that it really depends on the person. I got the Arms Reach Cosleeper so I had somethingto use for sleeping before the crib (didn't use a bassinett) and then to use a pack n play. I have gotten daily use out of this thing for two years straight. I love it! I used the Boppy a lot as well. The Bumbo I used for maybe a month. I also loved my snap n go and the chicco keyfit 30 carseat and base.
I did not like the Chicco stroller that went with the travel system and eventually sold it. Never used wipes or bottle warmer.

Re: BTDT Moms: What regsitry items did you end up NOT needing?
The things we didn't really use that much was the boppy, bouncer seat and the bumbo. Our pack and play I love for us it is a must have...its great once they start crawling I use it as a play pen it especially comes in handy when I am making dinner, I put DS in there with some toys and he's happy and safe.
