BTDT Moms: Which items on your registry did you use most during the first 3 months?

It's up in the air whether I'll be having a shower, so DH and I are making an effort to buy some things every paycheck. My goal is to buy those things we know that we will need while I'm on maternity leave first. Any suggestions?

I used the pack n play mostly for changer that was high up and in my living room bc my recovery from c-section was so bad I couldn't bend or walk upstairs to bedroom
(Plus all the sheets, burp cloths, changing pads etc)

I agree with KPanas that the pack n play is helpful depending on the layout of your house.

-Changing pad savers: they lay flat over the changing pad cover, they're like a sheet saver but for the changing pad. DD pees every time I change her, adorable.. Right? LOL

diapers (DD was 8lbs when she was born, newborn diapers didn't fit and she outgrew size 1 by 10lbs.)

rock and play - use this more than the pack and play or bassinet

bouncer seat - love this now that she is older she can play and kick toys while I do other things around the house.

DD is almost 3 months and still in our room so we haven't used the crib yet.
You can buy some great stuff at consignment. Once Upon a Child is in Sayville and I've bought great things there!

I wanted to add I see you are due in April. You may want to get the car seat cover. Mine is by JJ Cole, love it. It fits on the car seat like a shower cap and zips up as a blanket that won't fall off. So far if it's really chilly I add another blanket under.

Also a car seat canopy. I tried just placing light weight blankets over the carseat when it's breezy or raining and it flies all over. This attaches to the handle and stays covered until you lift it.

I use a snap and go. Very convenient for walks and shopping with baby. It's also pretty compact so when we go out to eat I doubt we take up any more room than a high chair.

We use the playmat a lot! DS is playing on it right now!

DS is 6 weeks and this is what we've used pretty much on a daily basis so far:

pacifiers (although DS didn't like the ones we bought- only the ones we got in the hospital so we had to go out and get more of those!)

regardless of if you have a shower or not...people LOVE to buy baby gifts. You will be surprised how many gifts you will receive in the beginning. I would plan on major items like carseat and pack and play or bassinet and some other small items. Items to take you for the first few weeks.

These are the things I need every day...

Onesies and comfy PJS - but once the baby was born we got tons of clothes as gifts!
Boppy
Diapers
Wipes
Changing pad liners- get the big rectangle carters ones, I have 4
Burp clothes (lots) and get the cloth diaper ones
The swing is expensive and DD didnt start liking it too much till she was 8-9 weeks but we like that better than the RNP now. She naps in there and is very calm in there - she loves it!
Pack n play or bassinet if s/he will sleep in your room
Carseat
snap-n-go stroller is light weight and cheap and can use for the first several months!


Dont go crazy with blankets, swaddles or binkies. We got a lot of blankies as presents. Also you only need 1-2 swaddles if any, your baby may not like them. We have 4 diff binky types and DD hates them all!
