Re: BTDT moms who went past their due date

I never went into labor and was induced at 41 weeks. Going into the induction I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. DD was born the next day after a successful induction.

I was induced at 41w2d. At my 41w appt, cervix was soft, head was real low, but I was still not dilated.

I was going to be induced at 41w2d, but my water finally broke early am, at 40w6d. I was never dilated prior to this, or lost MP. Even as I went to the hospital after water broke, I was still 0 cm dilated, but pitocin took care of that, and I delivered her later that night.
The day before I felt very nauseous, just generally off. Other than that, no symptoms, no contractions, nothing. good luck.

I was late with DS (my 2nd child). I lost my MP over a few days starting at my due date. I would have intervals of contractions but they wouldn't get stronger and they'd go away. The only labor inducing tales I tried was eggplant parm, spicy food and sex - all of which gave me contractions for a few hours but never put me over that "edge" into full labor. My midwife okayed me for castor oil but I didn't want to deal with after effects from that (dehydration, loose bowels).

I had scheduled an induction at 41w 2d begrudgingly. My mom flew in before my due date and it was approaching the time for her to go back home. Luckily, I was having consistent contractions that were getting stronger for a few hours before I went in at 7pm for the induction. My mom and DD were going to come to the hospital in the am and hopefully catch the birth but instead, they got the phone call from me at 7am announcing that "it's a boy!".

I tell everyone this.. if you can, wait for things to happen naturally. I was induced with DD before my body was ready and recovery was h*ll. With DS, recovery was awesome, even with the tiny bit of pitocin I had. (No epi with either) Be patient, although I know how hard it is!

#1 - 41w3days --- I had tried almost every old wives' tale for bringing on labor....under my midwife's care I went for the castor oil option and 8 hours later I was in labor ----- but it was 29 hours of labor before LO arrived.

#2 - 40w3days -- I went into labor on my own at 4:30am; labored at home until 6:30, arrived at hospital at 7am, water broke at 8:45 and DS was born at 8:58am. Chat Icon

i like the second one! hope that will happen with me too when i'm ready for baby # 2! Chat Icon
