C-section Mommies question

How long were you in the hospital.

With my daughter I was in from Monday and came home Friday.

I asked the doc today when I would come home since I am scheduled for my section on a Friday she said I could leave on Sunday or stay until Monday. The just seemed quick to me. I thought he was going to say Tuesday.

How many days were you in?

Re: C-section Mommies question

I gave brith to DS at 10:36 pm on a Wednesday and was discharged at 11 am on that Sunday. It goes by the night - not by the day per my insurance so I was given 4 nights - even though I was only in the hospital for a few hours on Wednesday.

Re: C-section Mommies question

Thanks girls.

I know emotionally I will be ready to leave on Sunday as I don't do well in hospitals and I have never been away from my daughter more than 24 hours. BUT knowing my husband, who thinks he married a work horse that can never quit working, I am more worried about the recovery this time than I was last time.

He will be home with me that week I come home and then the next. My mom will be here the following week (which is minimal help- with my daughter I spent more time cooking for and cleaning up after her than I did resting) so I was hoping for every day possible for the rest.

As for the night thing- that confuses me more, because my DD was schedule also and she was born at 8:03 am on Monday and I left Friday.

Oh well whatever it is, it is.

What is your hospital? Most insurance will cover for 4 nights/5 days. The 1st day does not count.

Re: C-section Mommies question

I went in Monday with Robbie, delivered Tuesday night and came home Saturday.

With Noah I was scheduled and gave birth on Friday. I came home on Tuesday.

Both times I asked to be released early and both times they refused.Chat Icon

Did you express to them that you aren't a hospital kind of person?

because i know i did. which is why i think i was told i HAD to stay at least 2 nights. Not sure though if that was the maximum time. My OB knew i wanted out the min i could.

i also gave birth at St. Catherine's

With DS, I went in on Saturday, had DS at 1:05 AM on Sunday and came home on Thursday Chat Icon. I don't really want to stay that long with this one but I won't know for sure until I am much closer...

Re: C-section Mommies question

I delivered on Friday morning...was admitted Thursday night.

I went home Wed. afternoon.

so I went home on the 6th day there ( technically 7th)

I took ALL the time I needed.

I wouldnt go home after a c/s with a newborn before 5 days. I needed those nurses!

That is my feeling too. He made reference to most people want to get home ASAP, especially when they have another little one at home. OF COURSE I want to get home to my daughter but I also want as much time as possible to heal before I have to deal with the tantrums of a 3 year old that likes to hit and kick me.
