C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
I had stitches with my first , they dissolved, never had any problems other than little soreness here and there. I am pregnant again and I just found out today that my new OBGYN does staples only. One of his patients told me today that she asked for stitches , but he said he prefers staples and doesn't really do stitches. To be honest getting another CS is scary enough for me and now the thought of getting staples and then having them removed is making me 10X nervous. I read and hear that sometimes staples leaves a bad scar, it takes longer to heal and that more women get infections when getting staples than women who get stitches. Pleas share your experience,if you had staples or if you have had both.

I only had one c section....with staples. No issues with them at all. My incision looked great the second day and the staples were removed before I was discharged. It didn't hurt at all

I had dissolvable stitches and have a very little scar that you can barely see. I had a great recovery, too.
My SIL had staples and had a very rough recovery. She also has a very visible scar.
Do you have a choice between the two? If you had a choice, I'd 1000% go with the stitches.

I had both. Stitched on the inside that dissolved and staples on the outside that were taken out before i left the hospital. The staples were fine. I didn't feel a thing while they were in and i didn't feel a thing while they were taking them out.

I'm not a BTDT, but work in the field, and most OBs that I know, do staples.

I had staples and didn't have any problems with them at all. Not sure if my scar is any worse or better than anyone else's. It looks okay to me...

I only had one csection so far, but had dissolving stitches and had a great recovery. My incision is only 2 months old but looks pretty good.

I had staples, no issues from them. Didn't feel a thing when they were removed.
If you didn't know I had a c-section you wouldn't even notice my scar.

I've had three c-sections, staples for each. Absolutely no issues. For the first, I had them removed on the last day in the hospital (stayed 4 nights), but for the 2nd and 3rd (stayed 3 nights), I had them removed in the office a few days later. The removal does not hurt AT ALL!

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
My best friend from HS has had 5 csections and always told me that if I ever had a csection, "Don't let them staple you!!!" She had staples with her 2nd dc and claimed it was the worst recovery ever.
She beat it into me so much that as they were rushing me into my crash csection with dd2, just before they knocked me out, I was crying, "Don't staple me! Please don't staple me!" They didn't, and I had a crappy recovery anyway, but I have no idea if that related in any way to stitches vs staples.

I had staples and my incision healed very well and the scar is barely visible.
I was terrified of getting them removed and the dr insisted it wouldn't hurt. She was right! Honestly that was probably the least painful thing about my csection.

Same here. They actually removed my staples about 5 days after my csection and it tickled because they had healed so well. lol

I had staples for all 3 c-sections. I had complications with incisions of the 1st and 3rd c-sections, but I don't believe it was related to the staples (it probably had more to do with me over-doing it/being physically active. )
No pain or discomfort with the removal with any of them.

I did not have a choice, I had staples, healing was not bad at all, minimal scar. One week after my c section I went to my ob and he removed them which was painless.

I had both. Staples for first section and stitches for the second one. I didnt have an issue with either. Having the staples removed is pretty much painless.

Same here
DC1 - staples DC2 - stitches DC3 - staples
I had great recoveries from all three. Scar looks the same with all three. If anything the staples were a little more annoying from rubbing against my clothes...BUT i will say it was easier to have them removed before I left the hospital. The first time around they were removed in the office days later and it was more annoying! I was glad to leave the hospital with DC3 with them out!!!
and they SHOCKINGLY do not hurt at all to get removed!!
I say either way you are fine!

I had staples te first time and stitches the second time. The stitches were the ones that disolved. I preferred the stitches....recovery was so much easier

I had a c/s with my first. I had stitches. My scar is hardly noticeable, real small and I never had any issues.

I had staples and my incision opened up and got infected. Not a fun recovery and my scar is not pretty but I don't think that's the norm

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
I had staples. My only issue was one night, about 5 days pp,when I jumped out of bed to get the baby I popped one out. Then I had an open area on my incision for a few weeks that required silver nitrate to close up all the way. It oozed and stuff but didn't hurt. Don't know if a stitch would have held any better.

Same here. Dissolvable stitches inside and glue outside. No problems and very minimal scar. Had this done twice and will again for my 3rd.

I've had three c-sections. Had staples with my first and had a bad infection where my incision opened. Requested stitches with my second two and no infection, much easier recoveries.
