Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
staples here
No issues with them, barely felt them when they took them out, no major scarring.
Never cared or thought about stitches vs staples.. haha

I had dissolving staples/stitches. They're supposed to be the "best" way to close a cesarian incision.

I had staples. They took them out on my last day in the hospital. It didn't hurt at all and I had no issues with them.

For me it honestly made no difference. The first time I had staples and second time I had stitches. Both times I have had doctors comment on how beautifully it has healed.

staples - never felt anything (the area is numb for months) didnt feel them taken out either.
honestly, no problems. My staples came out on day 4 and no dressing or anything after that! I healed fine, hardly even a line now

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
I have only had one cs and it was closed with disolving stitches. By the time the dressing came off two days after the surgery the incision was almost completely healed. Any medical professional who has seen my scar says it's "beautiful".

I had dissolving stitches with my first. The second time, my OB said he wanted to do staples and I begged for stitches instead. Thank God...no staples for me!

I had dissolvable stiches and glued and I had a really easy recovery no issues and you can barely see my scar.
Same here. Dissolvable stitches inside and glue outside. No problems and very minimal scar. Had this done twice and will again for my 3rd.
same for me

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
I had a staples for my c-section (only had one). They were removed on the last day that i was at the hospital (so day 5 after getting them). My scar is mostly thin, except i do have some scar tissue that is raised on certain points of the line. I dont think that has anything to do with staples vs. stiches. I think that is just how i heal. I have raised scars on other areas of where i have had wounds. I obviously have no comparision, but i healed pretty quickly and they were not uncomfortable. Even them removing the staples were not uncomfortable.

My Dr. did staples the first time and didn't like how it healed, so did stitches the 2nd time.
Stitches seemed to be better for me.

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
i had a very complicated c-section and was closed with staples. they were removed a week later, no complications there. however i have a lot of numbing near the incision still (due to the surgery itself, not the staples specifically). at almost 9m PP my scar def looks puffier and redder than my friend's scar who had a routine c-section 2 weeks ago and had stitches.
im sure mine was worse due to my complications though. im not sure the staples vs. stitches had anything to do with it.

Staples stitches

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
I had staples. They actually had to come out early because they were pulling and causing me a lot of pain. I felt like a new woman when they came out. And then my incision opened a little, but the OB said that was ok because it had to drain. And now, you can barely see my scar. He did a really beautiful job. If only I were skinny and could wear a bikini.

I only had one c section....with staples. No issues with them at all. My incision looked great the second day and the staples were removed before I was discharged. It didn't hurt at all
Ditto, no issues whatsoever

Re: C-section moms staples /stitches , which one did you have and which one would you prefer if you had a choice?
Thanks so much everyone, I appreciate all the replies.
I wonder if you can request stitches? hmmm.
I am going to see my OB next week and I am going to request or should I say insist that they do stitches that dissolve . The idea of staples is still scaring me. If the dr refuses then I might go to someone else (I'm already having few issues with the office-not the dr- and have considered switching) I know that staples are easier/quicker for drs and that's the main reason why they do it, but ....
