Can I hang a flat screen on this wall?
We are closing this week so I'm trying to figure out a few things for the new home - right now we have an alcove in our playroom that perfectly fits out flat screen tv which is mounted to the wall. The house is wired already for an entertainment system so it makes sense I think to put the TV where they had the old system. Either way I will have to get an entertainment center (either a low one for only the DVR and DVD player or one that will hold the TV if I can't mount it). It is a 40 inch.
Is anyone handy? Can you mount a flat screen on this spot on the wall and if so can you angle the TV so you can see if from the couch (on the right wall) which will be in front of the windows.

yea, I dont see why not- we are planning on hanging one in our bedroom in a corner- they sell brackets that you screw into the wall and some can be tilted too

YEah, you might have to buy one that you can move and swivel, and it might not be centered (as you may have to attach the hardware to the left or right of the post) but I think it can be done.

Actually, the post is a GOOD thing. You can mount one of these to the post (very sturdy, so you don't have to worry about it pulling out of the wall.
You can run the wires along the post, so you can either almost hide them by keeping the wires flush, or building out the post a bit and hiding them behind the false post (even just a flat piece of sheetrock that is two or three inches wider than the post, so the overhang on either side will hide the wires behind it.

I think so...I have one in the corner of my bedroom..it is on a swivel type mount.
Sidenote...what color paint is that? I love it

They are pretty common. Best Buy
has a lot. I've seen them at Walmart, Target, Sears, etc. Just make sure the one you get is rated for the screen size. Most are only designed for a certain size and weight TV.

LOL I don't know but I love it too - We aren't going to paint downstairs b/c everything was recently painted and we love the colors (we might have to paint the dining room depending on this one job we are doing and how it works out.). So unless something horrible happens to it when we move we are keeping it!

40" is a tad much for a single arm/single stud (IMO)
i wouldn't buy from best buy...
i would buy from monoprice.com
Where exactly are you trying to put it in the first picture? where the wall "bumps" out?

Depends on size of TV.
Also you need to make sure it's anchored into the stud. Not the wall itself.

Well if you look at the top picture you can see where the cable plug in as well as where the other items are that I will need.
Well no it certainly doesn't have to go on the post - I would like to know if I can hang it between those two windows (not sure if it will fit between the left of the post and that window or not). I would need to turn it though when we use it b.c most likely our couch will be on that right wall under the windows. If you look at the second picture the tv will be on the left wall and the couch on the wall in front of you.
If I can't turn it I might have to look into buying an entertainment center to put the TV on and I was trying to save money and not buy one if I can have it hung properly.
