GREAT!!! you will love it! Dont feel intimidated at all. go at your own pace. bring a bottle of water and a small towel or paper towels to wipe sweat. AND please go get a gel seat from models or some'n. The first time I did spin I felt the effects of that bike seat for days lol....
if you really end up liking it go get spin shoes.. if found my regular sneakers were too clunky for the pedal harness thingy...
enjoy!

Ohmygosh!! It is the most amazing rush I have ever experienced. Def stretch out your body before you start and get a gel cushion for your seat(your azz will thank you for it). THe class is about an hour and you go at different speeds throughout the class. Room is usually dark too.
Be prepared to be sore the next day. Just pop a few advil. Highly recommend it!!
Have fun.
Don't forget a large bottle of cold water.

Re: Can someone tell me what to expect in a spinning class?
its seriously the best workout ever.
1. go to dicks/sports authority and but a gel seat. (its like 20 bucks-- and worth every penny) your hiney will still be a little sore the first few times. 2. dress in layers.. you will be ripping clothes off during the workout. 3. bring a large bottle of water.. not too cold. 4. bring a towel. (i put mine over the handle bars so i dont have to touch them) 5. dont forget to wipe down you bike before. 6. VERY IMPORTANT-- get there a little early and let the instructor know its your first time and ask him/her to help you adjust the settings on the bike.. if the seat is to high/low/far/close it will do more harm then good.
mm i think thats it.. the classes are usually in a dark room with black lights and really loud music.. (i have also seen a few people bring ear plugs.. i guess its too loud for them??)
have fun!!!

Everyone had great suggestions. I took my first spin class two weeks ago and now I love it. I would tell the instructor that you new, so they can show you how set your seat up and tip about the class. Have fun

I love spin - the best thing is, the lights are off and no one really sees you, so it's the best workout for self conscious types. The instructor will come over to you if your form is not good, but they are great about it.... And usually the music kicks butt - it's awesome - you'll love it!!!

The most important thing is to go early and have the teacher show you how to work the bike.
I love the fact that it's dark and the music is loud and the workout is great! You burn so many calories and can totally control how easy/hard you want it to be!

i used to teach SPIN classes at NYSC... i loved having new members!!! Definitely go a little early and talk to the instructor and they'll set you up. Chances are you won't be able to keep up with everyone else, so if you need to... just lower the resistance and sit down and go at your own pace. Its amazing how quickly you build up your endurance doing it. Just have fun and push yourself!
