Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
We are looking to go on a trip to Disney in early December.
Can you recommend some toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
We'd like a heated pool.

Do you want to stay on Disney property?
I am completely ignorant when it comes to Disney. I haven't been in almost 20 years. The last time I was there, I was in junior high school.
I don't think we have to stay on a disney property. I just want a hotel that has a toddler friendly heated pool, a kiddie show/activities and some family friendly restaurants. A nice spa for me would be nice but not necessary.
We will probably go to some disney parks but also spend a few days just on the property so we want to be able to occupy DS on the hotel.

What is you $$$ range? They have value, moderate and luxury hotels.
I personally recommend the Polynesian (luxury). It's on the monorail. Easy access to MK and Epcot and since you are also PG, the least walking you have, the better.
If you book the Polynesian, request the building next to the main building. Very convenient to the monorail.
I am not sure which hotel has a heated pool though.

I'd like to keep hotel costs under $300/night. We don't need a suite, just a regular hotel room will be fine. I did a quick search and there seem to be a ton of hotels in the <$150 range that seemed really toddler friendly. I'm pretty overwhelmed with the choices.
I loved Animal Lodge but all the regular rooms ($250) are sold out. They have suites left for $800/night, which is more than I'd like to spend.

I just stayed in Animal Kingdom 2 weeks ago.. it's beautiful but it is SUPER far from MK- about a 20 minute bus ride. It's a little annoying with little ones b/c you have to take everything out of stroller, get on bus, hold the stuff and your kid, get off, etc.. it was sort of annoying.
Also- the restaurants there are indian/african themed- lots of curry.. we liked it but some people might now.
The pool area was awesome though

That's why I was suggesting a monorail hotels.
Also not all hotels oustide Disney offer a shuttle. Or you might have to wait a bit for it, as well as EVERYBODY else. So if you have a bus hotel, it might take you 20 minutes to get a bus THEN add about 15-20 minute ride to go to the park you want. You can't just come back to your room either whenever you feel like it. I do feel it takes away from the fun of going to Disney.
You are coming a little late in the game for a Christmas vacation in Disney. This is a super busy time. "Cheap" rooms are not going to be that great.
You can check www.disboards.com for reviews on hotels.

May I ask how much you paid per night for Animal Lodge?
All the websites (hotels.com, orbitz.com, etc) say it is sold out. The actual hotel website only has suites for like $800/night. We just want a regular room.

Thanks for the website recommendation.
This is a super last minute trip. We decided today that we will go and we are looking to go the first week of December.
Is it better to take the bus/monorail vs driving to the parks ourselves? Sorry, I am JUST starting to do research. I know some people book their vacations months and months in advance.
I was going to just book our flights and hotels and then tackle logistics afterward.

Essentiallly you don't pay because you have a bigger/better room but because of the time of the season you are going. A $250 room off season might be $500 at Christmas time or full Summer season. KWIM?

All Star movies - my 3 yr old and 1 yr old are obsessed with toy story and our room looked out to a 4 story Buzz and Woody. they were in heaven! They also have dalmatian theme building, fantasia, etc!
I think I paid 89 a night!
They have a huge pool and a 2 kiddie pools I believe and I *think they are heated (but don't quote me on that!
Def worth every penny! I recommend on property with the free transportation to the parks! We just got back about a month ago and my kids are still talking about it!

We stayed at Animal Kingdom with a savanna view. It was great, except for the distance from MK.
Next time we'll stay at Polynesian. It also has a zero entry pool, but its right on the monorail.

Re: Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
We will be in Disney in early December, 5 days/4 nights, staying concierge level at the Wilderness Lodge, three adults and a toddler (in one room), with park hopper tickets around $2700. I have to assume all the pools on property are heated.
We almost always go at that time of the year (DH's birthday) and I don't think it's even been warm enough for me to want to go in the pool.
I know they are offering the free meal plan starting the day after we arrive, so we couldn't add without, re-booking and changing the dates. With conceirge level, the spread they put out for breakfast is more than enough. If we are ever there around snak/lunch time, we can eat as many Uncrustables as we want And evening apps they put can really serve as a light dinner (absolutely perfect for me, not so much for my 6'5'', 200lb hubby).
ETA: You can take a very quick boat ride right to the Magic Kingdom. We also ALWAYS rent a car because I hate buses.

Is parking terrible at the theme parks?
We'd probably go ridiculously early since DS usually wakes up around 6:30. I think we'd get there right when the parks open.

We are staying here in January!!! I know the kids will be excited. We are def on a budget so it was good for our price range..
I am a bit nervous having just one small room being that the 15 month old is a light sleeper but hoping it all works out...so excited!!!

Re: Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
The All-Star resorts are definitely the cheapest. They are also far away from the parks, which means slightly longer bus rides.
If you stay on Disney property, you do not need a car. They provide transportation to and from the airport and to all the parks.
All pools are heated all year round. We have gone at the end of January/beginning of February and we asked the same question.
A monorail resort would be great for you with a small LO and being pregnant, but you probably aren't going to find one for the price you want.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with any hotel at Disney. DH and I go every year (we are vacation club members) and I have never been disappointed.
In the future, do yourself a favor and stay at Animal Kingdom. It's one of my favorite places to stay.

We've always been lucky. And actually the time between right after Thanksgivng and about a week before Christmas has always been considered VALUE seaon.

Re: Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
Pop Warner football/cheer week is December 4th through Saturday, December 11th at disney so I would avoid staying at a value or moderate those days. They are typically overrun with obnxiously loud kids. Not sure if they stay at deluxes, although I'm sure some might. That might explain why it's sold out if your trip falls during that week.

Those are the EXACT dates we were planning to be in Disney. Thank you for the heads up.
Flights were super cheap (less than $200/ticket) then.
We are not married to that date range. We can easily go the week after.
After doing a quick search, I know we don't want to go christmas week.

Has anyone stayed at the Nickelodeon Resort?
They got good reviews on oyster.com. I'm a bit skeptical because the hotel is really cheap. http://www.oyster.com/orlando/hotels/nickelodeon-suites-resort/#checkin=2010-12-04&checkout=2010-12-08

Re: Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
My siister and her family have stayed there. She liked it a lot, but only stayed 1 night.
My coworker stayed there last year with his family and they did not do Disney at all. They just stayed at the hotel and he said his 2 kids had a great time...but they went when it was warm and could swim all day.

Re: Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
Do you want to stay on property? Do you want to be close to the Magic Kingdom (MK) or does it matter? Do you want a Value or a deluxe resort?
If you are willing to pay for it - I HIGHLY recommend the Polynesian. We have stayed there twice and once when DD#1 was 15 months and once when DD#1 was almost 3 (34.5 months) and DD#2 turned 1 on the trip.
It is so convenient you can wheel your stroller right onto the monorail and go right to the MK or you can walk next door to the TTC (Ticket and Transportation Center) and roll right onto the ferry to the MK or grab the monorail to EPCOT without changing monorails (you can also get on the MK monorail and change at the TTC to go to EPCOT). You can see the castle and the fireworks at night from the hotel. There is a great pool with a slide right next to the beach with a small interactive water area. You can get a bus to HS and AK.
Any of the monorail hotels are the most convenient for the MK - you can even walk to the MK from the Contemporary.
Wilderness lodge is the cheapest of the Deluxes. That is also close to the MK but is not on the monorail you have to take a boat there and a bus to other parks unless you rent a car - but it has a great pool and is a gorgeous hotel.
I personally am a fan of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is a bit farther from the other parks but is a fabulous hotel. If you are renting a car it might not matter to you b.c you won't have to deal with the buses and then can park at the parks for free (if you stay onsite you can park at any of the parks for free - if you stay off site you have to pay). You don't need a Savannah view - although they are great to have (nothing like waking up and going on your balcony to see giraffe right there as well as other animals). There are plenty of public viewing areas all over the hotel. They have a fire pit and story time and the hotel is beautiful and different than anything you will find in the US. That is generally the same price as the Wilderness lodge and is the cheapest of the deluxes.
Then there are the moderates (honestly any WDW hotel is good for a toddler). If your DC like pirates or Nemo - they have rooms with those themes over at The Caribbean Beach resort. The moderates are great hotels. They have outside corridors just so you know. They have several pools. I think all of them are fine. Just that the Caribbean Beach has those special themed rooms. Port Orleans is the smallest of them with a New Orleans theme. Most have a sit down and a counter service restaurant but it varies.
The values - all have open corridors. Depending on what your DC likes might help you pick a theme. They are very popular and you will find people either love them or hate them. They get mixed reviews. They are a great value though if you want to stay on site to get the on site amenities and don't plan to spend a lot of time in your rooms. They have pools and I think some (POP century) have a playground and some small sprinkler areas too. They have food courts but no sit down restaurants.

They get mixed reviews. They are a great value though if you want to stay on site to get the on site amenities and don't plan to spend a lot of time in your rooms. They have pools and I think some (POP century) have a playground and some small sprinkler areas too. They have food courts but no sit down restaurants.
I'm not even sure what a deluxe or moderate hotel is. It sounds like a value one = budget hotel.
When we travel, we usually stay at a sheraton type hotel ($200-300). If it is a special occasion, we will splurge and spend $500-1000 but I wasn't planning for this disney trip to be a splurge trip.
Are there any hotels that fit my $200-300 room budget?
We plan to go the second week of December. I believe this isn't peak time? I know I am late booking though.

Re: Can you recommend toddler friendly hotels in Disney?
If you plan on renting a car, then you can rent a whole house for a really great price near Disney. We have been doing this since 2002. It ends up being cheaper in the long run. You have everything you need in a house. Most have pools that can be heated. It is rent to have a house with a kid. Full kitchen. A lot of room to run around. You can put them to bed without worrying about waking them up in a hotel room...
