Canned beer at party...
trashy or not??? I don't drink beer but DH says if we're having a party people prefer bottles (he doesn't drink at all mind you.)
I didn't think it was a big deal. It's not like I'm serving pabst blue ribbon or meister brau beer.

Re: Canned beer at party...
All canned I would say no. What about a mix? I feel like you don't even need to do that much because people bring drinks.. at least my friends do.

Re: Canned beer at party...
We always have bottles because most people, ourselves included, prefer them. But we do have a friend who occasionally has a pool party and will specifically ask everyone to bring cans because they don't want glass where everyone walks barefoot. I don't think it's trashy.

Re: Canned beer at party...
My DH is very anti-cans, even though most of the time it is slightly cheaper. We usually do bottles, although when his friends bring drinks over, it is usually cans.

Re: Canned beer at party...
This might be a ridiculous mentality, but i always view having bottles as a bit more "mature". DH hates cans, says he hates the taste of beer in a can (i agree that it does taste different).
I think bottles look nicer, cans look cheaper. BUT i don't ever care when i go to a party what they have. We just choose to always buy bottles if we have a party. It's worth the extra $$

Re: Canned beer at party...
Thanks for the responses. I will keep what I bought and if anyone wants a bottle they will have to have a corona. We will also be having frozen drinks, sangria, wine, jello shots, and liquor so I think everyone will have ample choices.

Sounds like an awesome party to me regardless of whether it's in a bottle or can!!

We always do bottled beer. Neither of us are beer drinkers anyway, but we get bottles.

Canned beer at party...
matters location of party - for outdoor party we use cans outsdie only - i have a no glass rule outside to protect kid's feet - if people want a bottle we keep them in the downstairs fridge with a big sign telling them to poor into a cup.
my dh is a beer snob but we have a really good beer distributer in town and he can get very differnt beer in cans including a watermelon summer beer and other unusual things

Depends - where i chill in brooklyn unless your drinking specialty beer which needs the glass to form a proper taste/form people drink cans. Most of us still drink PBR and the can is the only way to drink that. However if your having a cheese/wine type of adult party where people are cocktail dresses then yes have glassware.

Re: Canned beer at party...
I usally will have a mix of cans and bottles and theres always red solo cups if someone feels funny drinking out of a can! I perfer bottles as well but i've never thought twice if i went to a party and there was only cans but then again I've never even thought about cans as being trashy so i guess its a to each there own sorta thing.

You can get away with PBR in a can because that is hipster now, but otherwise I would do bottles.

Re: Canned beer at party...
Bottled beer, usually. We almost didn't get married over bottled beer
DH is insane with this stuff. We have a least 4 different beers at a party/dinner. We have his Miller High Life, my dad's canned Bud, my sister's Corona & depending on who else shows up what they like (Stella, 64, etc.).
The only canned is my dad's & it's his preference.

Re: Canned beer at party...
As a host id prefer cans also b/c I find bottle tops in the grass and there has been a bottle broken before on our brick pool deck and it was splintered and hard to get all the pieces.
But Im not a drinker and if someone wants something specific, they can bring it LOL

Re: Canned beer at party...
I don't like the way beer tastes in cans so we always get bottles.
But trashy? I think that word is abused and misused in most situations. Canned beer isn't trashy any more than bottled beer is classy. IMO.

Re: Canned beer at party...
I prefer bottles and would serve bottles at a party, but just put the nice ice cold cans next to a big stack of solo cups and no one will care.
it's FREE BEER, people!

Re: Canned beer at party...
Canned beer is becoming the trendy way to package beer.
All the craft beer brewery's are starting to veer away from bottles. Surprisingly it's safer for the environment too.
