Re: Car Seat Dilemna - Help Needed BIG TIME!!!! (very long - i'm sorry)

you can:
a. get a new car
b. get a new, smaller carseat, and use the one you have for another car or emergencies, or sell it on ebay.
i have the britax marathon in a 98 honda accord and it fits perfectly. as far as i know, that's one of the larger britax carseats.
in our jeep, we have the chicco infant seat and base. we do need to push the seat up in the jeep but there is still plenty of leg room for me, i am about 5'4".
i am curious, which is the car you don't want to ride in with the baby and why?
a. our car was bought in september - thinking it would be the perfect family car (pontiac vibe). Dave is 6 foot 4 and can sit BEHIND himself with the seat all the way back - but it's NOT good enough for the car seat!
the other car we have is just not in the best shape is all - the mileage to gas ratio is HORRID and it's just older and more abused. It's my old car that has been beat to heck because of all of our road trips (before we started renting for our longer trips), etc...

OMG I could've written this same post. We are having such issues! We have the Graco Snugride and a Subaru Forester. What car do you have? For now we're super smooshed in the car. We tried a Chicco Keyfit and it didn't fit either. We've actually researched cars because we don't know what else to do. Let me know when you figure it out cuz I'd love to have ideas for handling this!
holy crud? are you serious? a keyfit doesn't fit
I thought DH's Scion xA (hatchback/compact car) was just about as small as it goes for car interiors... but the keyfit fit in there! Mind you, the front passenger seat was a bit to forward to be comfortable, but I could still sit there... and I'm 5'9" Why on earth does a small SUV have less interior space than a compact car

I have a Forester. I used a Graco Snugride on the passenger side in the back and one of us would sit in the back while he was in the infant seat. Because of the way you have to balance the seat, the front passenger seat has to be pretty much ALL the way forward.
My DS was only in the infant seat for about 5 months. Once we put the convertible seat in, there was more room to move the front passenger seat back. I have a Britax Roundabout in there now. There was even a little more room once we turned the convertible around to be forward facing (after 1 year old) and I can sit comfortably in the front passenger seat now.
