This is an article from Feb 2020 and speaks to virus mutations in general and has nothing specific to the CURRENT mutation of the COVID-19 virus. Useless information relative to the Delta variant.
But how do we even know these tests coming back are positive for Delta? No one wants to answer that as I haven't seen anything saying there are 2 different types of tests. They just automatically put you down as having the Delta variant now?
This article doesn’t address the Delta variant. It talks about how mutations aren’t as bad as science fiction movies and comics, and then it goes on to use evidence to support that. It further states that mutations are a natural process of viruses.
Someone answered your question about testing for the Delta variant a few threads ago. Maybe this will better answer your question: Testing for Delta

Masking is a recommendation now but it will end up being a mandate because the people who follow the recommendations are already vaccinated. The unvaccinated are the ones refusing to wear a mask and the only way to mitigate is to mandate masks.
How do you know that? Do you take a survey everywhere you go and ask them if they are vaccinated or unvaccinated?
On a whole, people will either comply or not. If they’re willing to be compliant in terms of the vaccine, they’re more likely to be willing to comply with a mask recommendation. And vice versa. If someone refuses the vaccine because they either aren’t worried about getting covid or don’t want the government telling them what to do, then presumably they aren’t worried about getting covid or going to do what the government tells them to do, which are both reasons for following a mask recommendation.
Maybe, but I know a lot of people who got vaccinated so they could stop wearing the mask, and go back to a semblance of normal with seeing friends, travelling etc. Those people will not wear a mask because they feel they shouldn't have to since they did what they were "supposed to" and got vaccinated. I hear a lot of- well why did I get a vaccine if I'm right back where I was a year ago? So there are 2 sides to it.
The answer is because the circumstances have changed. This is not a static situation. The variant has become much more prevalent then it was 3-4 months ago. Yes, it sucks, but refusing masks (if/when mandated again) does nothing but prolong the situation and makes anyone who refuses where required look like an ass

What is coming?
Federal gov't employee vaccine mandate
I am sure it will be either or like NYC is doing.
Not all people who go to the WH are federal employees also.

Very true
Sorry but this is total BS!!!!! The unvaccinated people I know and have seen are so much more cautious! They don’t indoor dine, don’t travel and wear masks always indoors. This also includes the teens I know. Where as all the vaccinated people I know are living like they have complete immunity and Covid is over. I would rather be in the company of an unvaccinated person any day. You have no idea what you are talking about.
So over 70 percent of Nassau county is fully vaccinated making it one of the highest counties yet we also are at the top of the list in terms of cases. This doesn’t make sense if the vaccine is effective. Sorry but you can’t blame the 30 percent forever. Go look at the cape cod/Provincetown outbreak where like 70 percent of the cases are vaccinated people! Give me a break at this point it’s comical to keep blaming the unvaccinated people. The vaccine needs to be more effective than this if we have any hope of moving past this and vaccinated people have to stop living like they are immune when they aren’t. Even if 100 percent are vaccinated we will still have Covid right now because vaccinated people are still getting and spreading Covid in mass. We have a mask requirement now for vaccinated people because they are getting sick and spreading it too! If they weren’t, we wouldn’t be in this situation.

Not all people who go into any federal building are employees. But it looks like there will be a mandate for feral employees very soon. And NYC employees. Yes - vaccine or mandatory testing multiple times per week. And for those entering who are not employees, I'm sure there will be a mask mandate in place very soon

I’m sure the mandated constant testing of only unvaccinated is going to make for some great case statistics.

So true as the majority of the vaccinated ran out as soon as their 2 weeks were up, IME, because now that they were vaccinated they had the false feeling that everything was ok.

Both NYT and CNN ran pieces today stating what I did. It doesn’t take a publication to know the majority of people will either comply on all fronts or comply on zero fronts, especially since it has been stressed time and time again that the pandemic has become political. It’s common sense.

Not if you go by the people posting on here. Many who are unvaccinated have proudly stated how they are (and have been) going about their lives like it's 2019, not wearing masks, going to crowded events, etc. And it's the same for most of the people I know IRL.

Because they rightly KNOW that there is an extremely small chance of them getting severe covid of being hospitalized - the whole point of getting vaccinated. Whereas the unvaccinated who are doing the exact same things (you for example) do not have that same protection.

Exactly, everyone has to take a chance, either being vaccinated or not but there is no 100% chance you won't get covid either way.
That is my own personal business just like everyone else. I don't go around and have to tell everyone, every time I do something and post it on social media.

So true as the majority of the vaccinated ran out as soon as their 2 weeks were up, IME, because now that they were vaccinated they had the false feeling that everything was ok.
Because they rightly KNOW that there is an extremely small chance of them getting severe covid of being hospitalized - the whole point of getting vaccinated. Whereas the unvaccinated who are doing the exact same things (you for example) do not have that same protection.
But many are being hospitalized and some are dying so there is NO way of knowing if you are vaccinated you won't get sick. Have I ever said I was not vaccinated?
Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that 99.5% of all those hospitalized for COVID are unvaccinated. So, the odds are MUCH more favorable for those who are vaccinated.
There's no way of knowing many many things in this life - but we still live it every day. We all take calculated risks every day, but some are greater than others
Why don't you definitively state whether you are or not? You have sooooo many opinions about it, you should state where you are coming from.
Exactly, everyone has to take a chance, either being vaccinated or not but there is no 100% chance you won't get covid either way.
That is my own personal business just like everyone else. I don't go around and have to tell everyone, every time I do something and post it on social media.
Yes, your decision, but it impacts more than just you. And for someone who doesn't go around telling everyone your business (or whatever that sentence is supposed to say), you certainly have NO qualms about telling others what they should and shou;dn't be doing. And in the world of COVID vaccines, if you want entry into certain places, you either prove you are or you are presumed to not be. So, if you won't say, the presumption is you are not.

Masking is a recommendation now but it will end up being a mandate because the people who follow the recommendations are already vaccinated. The unvaccinated are the ones refusing to wear a mask and the only way to mitigate is to mandate masks.
Very true

How many places do you know that you have to be vaccinated right now for entry?

Re: CDC recommends masking up in some locations …
As an aside, Biden’s Jen Psaki was asked about the “99.5% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated” statistic, and she admitted that percentage was based on stats from between January and April. When far less people were vaccinated and the vaccine was so hard to get, so of course most were unvaxxed. I would like to know how many people hospitalized since then are unvaxxed vs. vaxxed. Also, both the CDC and Lord Fauci said this week that vaccinated people have a higher viral load than originally thought and ARE spreaders. It’s easy to mischaracterize data. Stop blaming the unvaxxed for all the problems. They don’t all have covid.

Hmm interesting.
Exactly, the unvaccinated are treated like lepers (at least here on this board) and no one can really say if the vaccinate are getting it from unvaccinated or vaccinated people.

CDC recommends masking up in some locations …
I am literally mentally done with all of this. No one knows shit. There is "scientific" evidence about every single side and there are about 100 sides to this issue.
Why the F did we bother getting the vaccine for. If mandates are not going to lifted then there was no reason to do it. This virus is never going away. We will be in masks for the rest of our lives if they don't stop with the mandates. Everyone knew that the vaccine did not make you invincible from Covid. It would just lessen the effects of it. So why is this such a new revelation? Children are not dying from this virus any more than other virus. We do not know true long term effects because it hasn't been around long enough to track that. They do not need protection from it. Adults have the option to get the vaccination. If they do not, then that is not my problem. There needs to be an option and a choice for people. I just started watching the Handmaiden's Tale and maybe we should take a bit from the show and start wearing clothes color coded with our vaccination status. It's coming to that. The constant talking about it is making me insane.
