When far less people were vaccinated and the vaccine was so hard to get, so of course most were unvaxxed. I would like to know how many people hospitalized since then are unvaxxed vs. vaxxed. This kinda strikes a nerve for me, even before covid. For some strange reason when people hear my kids are not vaccinated (we’re actually exvaxers for a long time), some automatically assume they carry all sorts of diseases and pose threats of all kinds. To me, that mentality is so ignorant! Being unvaccinated does NOT mean u’re sick. I actually don’t even blame them for thinking this way, I blame the narrative and those in power that spread such ignorant mindset.

Sure saying 99% sounds like such a massive number but how many people are being hospitalized due to covid and how many are not. If the majority of unvaccinated people are NOT ending up in hospitals (which is what’s actually happening) then that percentage they’re throwing around is pretty much irrelevant. But of course they’re gonna word it in such alarming way for their own purposes, it does not surprise me one bit.

Absolutely and you can see (just even from some on this board) this scare tactic is working.
They throw out a variant and people go insane. They put stories out about unvaccinated people who are begging in the hospitals to vaccinate them and they regret not being vaccinated. It’s all a ploy and so many fall into it. The media know exactly how to word things to pull at people’s heart strings and to make them scared.

I am so riled up right now. I just had it out with my school district because as I mentioned before my youngest has special needs and severe speech delay. Masks basically take away her ability to speak and be understood. I was a good citizen all last year and let my daughter suffer. I will not do it again. She is vaccinated and I told them I will sue the bejesus out of them for discrimination and taking away her ability to have a education, which is her right. They gave me a mask exception for her. Right there tells me this whole thing is ********!

Also, going back to another post, I’m wondering how many of you have actually done academic studies. Because I did for my honors thesis in college and what I realized is that there are many, many ways to manipulate data to get the answer that you are looking for. And yes, research at higher levels need to be peer reviewed and adhere to higher standards but if you think that data isn’t being “massaged” to get the answers they are trying to achieve you are beyond naive. This whole “I believe in science” narrative is getting so old because it’s all a bunch of people who actually have no idea how science and research studies really work.

OMG yes!!! I don’t believe any of these numbers, sorry. They can’t get anymore to vaccinate so let’s now make it mandatory and chase after the ones who are not. Once we do, we will lower the numbers again and pat everyone on their head how wonderful boys and girls we all are.

I am so riled up right now. I just had it out with my school district because as I mentioned before my youngest has special needs and severe speech delay. Masks basically take away her ability to speak and be understood. I was a good citizen all last year and let my daughter suffer. I will not do it again. She is vaccinated and I told them I will sue the bejesus out of them for discrimination and taking away her ability to have a education, which is her right. They gave me a mask exception for her. Right there tells me this whole thing is ********!
Good for you for fighting for your child! Good for you! That's our one job as a parent.
And you know what, the fact they folded the second you mentioned a law suit says a lot.

And yes, research at higher levels need to be peer reviewed and adhere to higher standards but if you think that data isn’t being “massaged” to get the answers they are trying to achieve you are beyond naive. This whole “I believe in science” narrative is getting so old because it’s all a bunch of people who actually have no idea how science and research studies really work.

I just hope this is a kick in the butt for those states that have lower vaccination rates. Their hospitalization rate is creeping up because those that are high risk are not getting the vaccine. Of course our governor has to run with it tho. But I think the CDC put it out to put the idea of masks back in peoples heads so that those who need the vaccine would actually go get it.

I think you give people too much credit. I think the biggest problem with people, in general and on this site, is that they also can’t fathom the possibility that they might be wrong, that they are in fact wrong, or that they might not know the entire story. And that is very dangerous. I am going to say that I think that there is probably a lot of misinformation about covid and vaccine efficacy and how would I possibly be able to figure out what is right and what is wrong? I can think things and I can form an opinion based on research I do but I can’t say I know anything for a fact. But people on here act like they know things 100% and if you don’t also believe what they believe you “don’t believe in science.” It would be better if everyone could say things with less conviction. For example you could say “I got the vaccine because it looks like it will be highly effective and I’m going to hope for the best.” But instead a lot of people on here say things like “the vaccine is highly effective and if you don’t understand that clearly you are an idiot that doesn’t believe in science.” I just think it’s better to have an open mind that this is an evolving topic about which we still know very little and touting science all the time and thinking you are an expert in how research is conducted when you’ve never actually done research at a higher level is insulting.

It is easier to insult and call people names on social media then actually accept you might be wrong and learn something in the process.
Attacking others says a lot about the person and their own issues and not the person they are attacking.
