City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
So I have been using the snap n go for the last 7 months and I love it, so does DS...but at almost 20lbs the time has come to get him in his big boy stroller.
We got the city mini (2011 bc thats when he was born). The basket underneath is so much smaller than my snap n go...I can barely fit my diaper bag and NOTHING else. I used to fit the diaper bag and then still have room for more things.
SO what do you ladies do? Scale back the diaper bag? carry the big heavy thing?
What stroller DOES have a big basket that is ALSO lightweight?
Thanks

I have the double but I either use the mommy hook or I can attach my skip hop bag right to the handle

I bought two hooks but it says NOT to hand anything on the handle....I was afraid it might break the stroller or something.

When I really need it, I hang my diaper bag from the handles. No way will it fit in the absurdly small basket. I assumed they say not to hang it becuase it can make the stroller topple over backwards. I am always super careful if I do hang it becuase I have noticed that it makes it tip backwards easily. I have no idea why they designed it this way. Otherwise I love the stroller.

Yeah thats what DH said that it would flip the stroller. Im so annoyed...I walk a lot and buy groceries and stuff and not having the big basket is really going to be annoying

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I have the 2012 City Mini and I'm very disappointed with the basket. Although I've heard it's still bigger than the earlier models. I put one of the mommy hooks on the handle, even though it says not to. I just try to be careful with the stroller since it does get weighed down.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I have very little experience with strollers but to me the basket is a BIG DEAL well not when I was shopping since I was clueless but now that I know I need it...so why all the raving about the city mini when the basket blows?

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
the basket on the city mini is the worst part. i have always hung the diaper bag from the handle ALWAYS. every single time. it will only flip the stroller if its super heavy and the stroller is empty. if your 20lbs kid is in there it wont flip unless you are literally carrying around a ton of bricks in your diaper bag.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I have the 2012 version sitting in the box still, but I have a diaper bag with clips on the sides so I can attach to the stroller. I have the Graco Snap and Go and with the carseat snapped into it, I can't really access the basket anyway because the carseat is in the way and doesn't leave me much access room! So I don't use the baskets underneath much anyway!

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
The basket is tough but I hang the diaper bag, be careful and I bought a carbiner from REI for less than $6 I want to say and it's better than the mommy hook, which broke in less than a month for me..I also got the carbiner in a color that matches the stroller and it holds a lot..we've done some errands with it and hung bags and been good..

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I have the 2011 and hate the basket as well. I hang my Skip Hop on the handle, but when I do I don't take my hands off of it when DD is in the stroller. It won't topple if she's in it, but I get nervous about someone bumping into it combined with the weight of the bag. If you do ahng it from the handle, just make sure to take it off before you take DC out of the stroller because it will topple without DC in it.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
Plenty of people where I live have the City Mini and hang their diaper bag from it. My friend also did with hers and never had it tip back. Use stroller hooks like the petunia picklebottom diaper bag hooks or juju be those are great.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
i use a mommy hook AND hooks on my city mini 2011. it only tips if my DD is not in the stroller, and even then only rarely.
also, i got the hooks for 6 bucks at burlington. saw them the other day for 14.99 at BBB.

Same for me. It sucks.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
That was my biggest turn off about the city mini, the very little storage space underneath...honestly i just lived w it...i was able to hang my diaper bag from the handle bar w/o any problems,, but yea. Def no storage space

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
BBB sells a parent console by McClaren which is great. It has two deep pockets. I store diapers, wipes, sunblock, etc. Most of the stuff you would put in your diaper bag. I have it for the double stroller but I am assuming they make it for the single as well.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I have the City Mini and it does have a pitifully small basket. I just hang the bag on the handle though. I also sometimes use the hook for it. I'm careful and make sure that it doesn't tip over, which has only happened twice and both times DD was not sitting in the stroller and we just let it go to go chase after her.

One step ahead sells some kind of "stabilizing" bag attachment. I just saw it in the catalogue the other day.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I originally bought the city mini and returned it for the Uppababy Cruz for the same reason. The Cruz is semi lightweight (20lbs) and the basket is huge! I put my diaper bag, purse, and if I run into a store any bag that I get.

Re: City Mini gripe...stroller advice...
I have the City Mini and have no issues with storage.
I have the mommy hook but all I put on there is my clutch that I always carry withmy money etc in it.
Bin is big enough for my bag but I have to say my diaper bag is only filled with the necessities and is on the small side.

I bought hooks for $6: http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Universal-Stroller-Hook-Pack/dp/B0033UWT8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338317409&sr=8-1
I hang my diaper bag with NO problems EVER.
