Cold Cut question
If I take my turkey put it on a plate and heat til steaming in the microwave, but then take the cold cuts and put it back in the fridge to cool, does that work? Or am I defeating the whole purpose of heating the turkey to kill any possible bacteria?
Reason why I am asking is because I would like to make my sandwich at home and bring it to work for lunch and I dont want to be heating up cold cuts at work. The microwave at work is

Re: Cold Cut question
My dr actually told me to do that. Let it sizzle in the microwave to kill the bacteria and then put it back in the fridge.

Re: Cold Cut question
Yes, definitely. I usually heat them in the microwave right after I go food shopping and put them in the fridge and use them throughout the week. Heating them up will kill any bacteria, so cooling them down again won't make a difference.

Re: Cold Cut question
Yup I totally do this. . one thing that I have found helps A LOT to make them still taste like cold cuts and not like dried out nasty meat is to steam them with a little water while you are heating them in the microwave. . this way the meat stays more moist and it doesn't get that jerky texture!

Re: Cold Cut question
My doctor said I can get packaged cold cuts from the store that are not from a deli counter as long as they say they are "fully cooked" and pasteurized on the package. So I just buy my regular turkey I used to get before. I don't even heat it. Where I live there aren't really "reputable delis" like in NY so I can't really trust anywhere out.
I'd go with what your doc says. I know some people have said before their doctor says no commercially packaged cold cuts either.

I ate turkey every day while pg. Never once did I heat it. Enjoy it. A few sandwiches are not going to hurt either of you. And besides hot COLD cuts are nasty.
