Re: Country living - yay or nay?
I would love to live in the country but I am not sure how I would handle the winters. My family is in Maine & they are in a rural town surrounded by horse farms & dairy farms. I was up there the entire weekend & coming back to NY made me sad yesterday. Being in the stores & not dealing with all the traffic is such a pleasure. You don't have to worry about sitting in the bumper to bumper traffic just to get to 5 stores. My parents live 10 minutes from a big city & that is close enough for me!
With that said, sitting in the yard & having it so peaceful is a nice change of pace. Now in the winters, I am not much of a snow person, but if there was not so much snow, I would consider it. My DH on the otherhand, is a city person, so there is no way we would move to the country

I absolutely could live in the country. There are just too many people here now.

Re: Country living - yay or nay?
yay for me... within reason- LOL i grew up on a 14 acre farm in south jersey... so it was nice and quiet, but it was really close to a couple major highways, and i could get to 3 different malls within 20 minutes... DH and i live in north jersey now in the same type of situation. we have an acre in a small neighborhood around a lake... so its very quiet, but only 5 minutes away is the mall, rt. 80, etc.... i like a combo of both DHs family lives waaay out in PA, and thats WAY TOO country for me.. they have to burn their trash in the backyard, and its about 45 minutes to any kind of store...

I can't wait to move back to the country. I lived in NC for 4 years and loved it. I just want my horses in my backyard...
