Crashing from pregnancy board-- did you get Flu shot?
Hello all,
Just wondering if you ladies got the flu shot if you were pregnant during flu season. My OB wants me to get it but I just hope nothing bad could happen to the baby. From what he tells me, getting the flu is the worst during pregnancy. I just hope nothing happens to us from the shot. I am 22 weeks.

Yes I got it during both pregnancies. Both my girls were born healthy and I was 100% fine.

Yes - I got the regular flu shot both times with no issues. With DS 1, I also received the separate swine flu shot (in 2009 during the epidemic when it was very difficult to locate flu shots).
I was torn in the beginning and felt that the benefits of the shot outweighed any potential risks.
ETA - I also felt it was important for me to get since I take the train every day and who knows what germs are floating around there!

I had the flu shot with all 3 pregnancies. I was afraid of the consequences of actually getting the flu.

I got it last winter. The flu was really bad and I wasn't taking tha chance of getting the flu. The ob gyn has a special preservative, mercury free shot.
Edit. I commuted on the lirr and subway so total germ feet.

Yes, I did. I've never had the flu and I certainly didn't want to find out what it was like while I was pregnant. It also gives your baby some protection for the first few months after their born which is great since they can't get the flu shot until they're 6 months.

I am afraid both ways, from the shot and the flu. Lol I do work in a hospital but in the offices. From what the OB says, the flu shot cannot hurt the baby.

I got it this time and last time (I also have gotten it every year for the past ten years). No reactions.
When Im pregnant, I get the preservative free shot to make myself feel better, though that is not even necessary...(CVS had the preservative/mercury free shot).

Yes!
With both babies.
The first was during H1N1, so I begged for it. We were in short supply... but I called daily until I could get it.
Both kids are fine.
I was fine.

I was preggo Dec thru Aug. Not once was it even brought up. If it had been the answer would still be no.

Yes. It was the first time I ever got it and have had it every year since.
I have never had the flu but wasn't going to chance it when I was PG and def not chancing it with DS as a baby/toddler.

Ditto. None of my doctors ever asked if I needed the flu shot, tdap or varicella vaccines.

I got a flu shot while pregnant. I was skeptical at first but my dr assured me it was fine. I had no flu symptoms and baby was fine!

I got one last September and I was in my 2nd tri. It was recommended by my midwife and also mandatory for work (hospital). I didn't get the flu and my baby is fine.

I did. And I got the preservative-free version because the pharmacist recommended it & had it in stock, but my doctor didn't say it had to be that type.

Yes. I got it a month before I had my son in 2009. And nothing happened.. A nurse on my floor, who handled my son, ended up having the flu and I was put on Tamiflu as a precaution! My son was fine!!
