Re: Cross post - Toxicology reports for the Taconic Crash in
Come on. The DH def knew what was going on. This wasn't the first time I am sure that she did this!!!! For me, he is to blame too, sorry.
And now it makes sense why they did the funeral so soon. It was practically overnight. They knew this was going to come out and wanted a "peaceful" ceremony.

Just read that the husband was driving behind them with the dog in his pickup. Then she stopped at Mcdonalds with the kids and he continued home.
She probably stopped there so she could smoke a blunt in the bathroom...

Her husband I feel nothing for. I highly doubt she was smoking and boozing on her own.
what makes you say that?
just b/c 2 people are married doesn't mean that are both addicts.....trust me
ITA
People hide stuff like this from their spouses all the time. Was he even with her at the time?
Beth, don 't take what I said personally.
I only say that b/c of the timeline. they left the campgrounds at roughly the same time, he just drove in another car ahead of her.
could she have done all this alone? sure. but I just don't believe it IN THIS INSTANCE.
but I could be wrong.
no one even said she was an addict...they were on "vacation" so she could have been indulging without necessarily being an addict.

I think the husband HAD to know she was that drunk since they were together......unless she got wasted AFTER leaving the campsite
I can tell you first hand that just because they were together doesn't mean he knew a thing.

I agree but it is weird that she was indulging at 9:30 in the morning.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt until it was proven that she was reckless.
I will continue to give her family the same benefit of doubt that they did NOT know she was drinking. And I will pray for them because none of us can imagine their he!!.

God! It really makes you think sometimes how selfish people are, to put children and everyone else on the road in danger for your stupidity!!!
I hope they all RIP, but most of all I hope that the little boy who survived can find peace as well knowing and living the rest of his life what his Mother did

See, that is where the conflicting reports lie. Originally (until today actually) they said that she and he left the campsite together but she went one way- to head home- and he went another to continue on a fishing trip elsewhere upstate. Now I am hearing that he was following her, or was ahead of her... Not sure which is accurate

ITA! Also, if they stopped at a rest stop McDonalds and he went on his way, how could he not have known the condition she was in?? Something does not seem right, but then again we were not there (Thank god) and at the end of the day, I hope they all RIP.

I just had a feeling it was going to be something like this I am so disgusted. She has wiped out an entire family and part of her own! What a horrible human being.
Her poor brother, I can't imagine what he must be feeling.
I always thought the family knew more than they were stating. The brother calling the police b/c his siister didn't feel well didn't seem right. My hearts go out to the Longo/Bastardi families - they mentioned that they were going to deal with this without animosity - i am sure that is going to change when they hear about these reports.
Yes that didn't seem right. I have pulled over because I got a migraine while driving and called my husband and he would never call the police etc. He just told me to stay put. I guarantee that brother was covering something up too- she probably called him and sounded wasted and high and he told her to sit and wait for him and she refused- and I bet he knew she had a drug/alcohol problem (cause lets face it- to be drunk and high at that hour of the day, that's not recreational, that's a real problem) and was trying to keep it from the cops. So he made up the crap that she was disoriented and couldn't see so they would think she had a stroke or an annyeurism or something. Like they wouldn't find out in the end with the autopsy?
What a freakin' POS this woman was. They were talking in the paper about what a responsible care giver she was... PLEASE. The lowest of the trash!
Totally agree - I have had migranes too and really low blood sugar and called my parents and they never thought to call the police. I also found it interesting that her family gave strict orders to family and friends to not speak to the media - I know people want privacy in times like this, but I just found that strange. if he knew this about her than shame on him for letting his kids get in the car with them.

Re: Cross post - Toxicology reports for the Taconic Crash in
Something still doesn't make sense - either she was BEYOND wasted at 9:30am (since at 1:30pm, four hours later, her BAC was .19) which is kinda hard to believe since some people said they saw her and said bye when she left, or she was drinking while driving. Maybe she started drinking before she left, but wasn't wasted, but continued drinking while she was on the road. Maybe she smoked while in the car or like someone suggested, in the McDonald's bathroom or wherever. I would not automatically assume that her DH knew and LET her drive after having been drinking and smoking pot. It could be, but I definitely will not just assume that.
If this turns out to be accurate info (they are saying the official results will be available tomorrow), then this is much more than just a tragic story.
SO many people were very sympathetic to the tragedy because she was said to be a great mother and for something like this to have happened, it must have been a tragic accident - she must have gotten sick, had a stroke, blacked out - something beyond her control.
If it turns out that she was drinking, drugging and then driving her kids and nieces - well that is just beyond comprehension. I too found it strange that her brother called the cops after she refused to wait there for him, but chalked it up to him being very nervous. It makes sense that he must have heard it in her voice that she was drunk and called because of that. In the interest of protecting her and because of his grief, he may not have wanted to admit that/tell the cops, knowing that it would come out with the autopsy.
May their families find peace - what a horrible horrible situation.

I wasn't saying what you said was bad or wrong. I was just saying, that dispite the timeline, he still could've NOT known his wife may have had a problem.
Given some of the information that is surfacing (in this thread and other news reports) it sounds like the whole family knew something was up. It's just a shame that they ALL let her drive away with 5 kids in tow.

That doesn't mean anything... I don't know what religion they were, but if they were Jewish, jewish funerals typically take place the day following a death or very soon thereafter.
I'm sick over this story....

Re: Cross post - Toxicology reports for the Taconic Crash in
This story makes me sick. I thought from the beginning that all the pieces didn't fit. I feel so bad for the victims from Yonkers. They were always referred to as 3 men from Yonkers while the story was about what could have made her sick. The papers called her a "victim" when she was anything but.
I can't imagine what the SIL is feeling right now. They held the funeral for her 3 children along side their murderer. I would throw up.

ITA with you. Shame on the brother for allowing her to take his children if he KNEW she drinks that heavily and smokes. It seems VERY early IMO to be doing both of those things. As a mother, I can't imagine drinking that early (and that much) (I do not smoke) and taking care of 2 young children.

There seems to have been a lot of conflicting info here- but IMO there has also been quite a bit of shoddy journalism involved too. I've read Newsday and the Journal News (the Westchester-area daily) and it seems like they are rushing to get the stories out before really making sure everything's accurate.
