Don't just lock your vehicles either. Several people at my old day care had their windows smashed within minutes just to get to bags that were visible. Put them in your trunk or bring them in with you.
I was just going to say the same thing. It happened to me when I was in college. I left my car for 5 minutes to run in somewhere and came back to find my window smashed and my brand new bag with my planner (my LIFE) & all my school stuff gone 1 week before finals. We also found a trail of papers. My license (that looked like they unsuccessfully tried to rip it) and my pocket book with nothing else in it was found by someone's garbage and the homeowner called me to return them. Nothing else was recovered and let me tell you, trying to compile a semester's worth of notes was NOT fun!
So sorry Liza I hope they catch these jerks and I hope you can recover or at least compile most of at least the information you lost!

Been there
I left my purse in the unlocked car while I ran into daycare and it was stolen. I think thieves prey on daycares because it's an easy target.

Re: Daycare & Preschool moms: PSA about leaving your pocketbook in the car
Sorry this happened to you! I made the same mistake once when DH and I were moving into our apartment. My car was in the driveway and we were going back and forth bringing boxes into the house. We took a lunch break and I didn't go outside to lock the door and some douche stole my beach bag that I had packed up with stuff off my dresser like my make up bag, some jewelry, but most importantly (to me) a conch shell that I had found at the beach with my grandpa in 1988 and we had taken home and painted together
Like Ophelia mentioned, though, I would go back and take a look in the surrounding areas to see if anything had been dumped. I found some of my make up on tossed on the sidewalk down the block. Guess they weren't a fan of my MAC lipstick

Sorry I didnt mean to get you upset or be insensitive. I really do feel bad for all that you are going thru. I guess I was just kind of surprised that someone would leave that many or any valuables in their car. I am not as trusting I guess. Again sorry to get you upset and for all you are goin through.

Oh, boo hoo. Bigdeal, i wont get a daily work out update. And yeah, i asked again because i cant see how someone who claims to be so bright with EVERYTHING you do, can be so stupid and leave all thst shiit in your car. So guess you learned your lesson.
Im done!
Jenn...you know I love you to death...but jesus christ...she made A MISTAKE!! Has that ever happened to you? I'm sure the last thing you'd want is for someone to point at YOU and say that you deserved it. Lay off!!!!!
To Liza...I'm so sorry that happened to you...I know that sinking feeling all too well As a matter of fact, I JUST picked DD up from daycare and left my school bag on the front seat of the car. It's a very fashionable canvas tote bag but still...it has my wallet and my cell phone in there. I am going to think twice about leaving it in there now, even if I'm just going in for a minute.

I'm soooo sorry for your loss. That just stinks! Thank you so much for this. I always leave my bag on the seat when I run in to drop off because I assume it is just parents there. I guess not and I will take this as a reminder not to be so sure!

Sorry this happened. I also agree with Jess - check the area for some of your stuff. My car was broken into once and I found stuff around the area where it was parked on the street.

Egad, I'm sorry this happened to you I agree with some of the PP, check the area for your belongings. My BIL & cousin had both their trucks broken into and found 'undesireable to robbers' items scattered down the road.
I hope with the ID of the man/men, you are able to get something back...

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude........ losing the LV bag and Ipod is awful.
But I totally got sick thinking of how huge the lose of those drives and your Ipad are- I KNOW how important those items are. I would lose my mind if I lost my thumb drives.
I hope like hell you get a miracle and find your stuff.

I would go look around the area - my friend's bag was taken from the car with all her school stuff - she found a lot of it dumped a few blocks away

ugh!! I was almost questioning the other day why I lock my door and others leave their cars running!
I know you live close to me, could you tell me (or FM me) the name of your center?

Re: Daycare & Preschool moms: PSA about leaving your pocketbook in the car
i am so sorry. this happened to me when DD was a newborn and i was going to walmart with her. i must have left my car unlocked and my ipod and gps were stolen from car. unfortunately i think theives target people like us since they know our #1 priority is our child.
make sure you file a police report so if your stuff is found the police can contact you and also get it on record so when they catch the person that did it they will also be charged with stealing from you too.
again i'm sorry this happened, i know what an awful feeling it is.
