DAYCARE QUESTION. Newborn nap related!!

DS started daycare 3 times a week and is watched by sister twice a week.

When I was on maternity leave DS would nap for about an hour or even two on a good day a few times a day.

Now at daycare he is doing about 3 1/2 naps and at my sisters it's hit or miss what his naps are.

MY QUESTION:

Did you DC have trouble napping at daycare and did they eventually learn to nap better at daycare after a while? If so how long did it take.

Poor baby comes hom sooo exhausted and crashes for the nigth around 6:30!!

No, DC never had/has had problems napping at daycare.

Didn't your DS just start? I can't remember how long ago he started - I would say that some babies need a longer adjustment period than others.

Yes today is his 4th full day of daycare. He's been at my sisters 3 full days. so a total of a week outside the house.

Yup... DD won't sleep anywhere but HER crib.

She never adjusted to napping at daycare.

I've just learned to deal with the 2 days per week she's there and doesn't nap.

And when I say doesn't nap, I mean just that... not even little cat naps during the day.

She is 12 months old and has been in daycare since she ws 5 months ol.

DD has been in daycare for 4 weeks now. She takes about 4 naps a day and can range from 30 min to 3 hours! It has always been this way, but she still crashes in the car ride home, and I dont get home till 7:30 and DH has already put her to bed Chat Icon

I feel like my dd sleeps too much at daycare! Sometimes 3 hours straight...when at home it is 1/2-1 hour naps. They mostly put her in the swing to nap though so I think that is what makes her sleep longer.

eta, she is 4 months old now and started daycare at 3 months old.

Ann had issues napping at daycare in the beginning because she is a belly sleeper and until she could roll, they do not allow them to sleep that way. So I think she did most of her napping in the swing.

Even now that they put her on her stomach, she's very irregular with her naps at day care (and for that matter on the weekends at home).

When DD first started daycare, she had trouble sleeping too- and would come home pooped. She's been in daycare for almost 2.5 years now, and has no problems sleeping there now.

Re: DAYCARE QUESTION. Newborn nap related!!

At home he takes 2, 2 hour naps every day -

at daycare, it's hit or miss. Sometimes he naps, sometimes he doesn't - I know they try their best to get him to nap, but the cribs are all in the same room as the action, and my guy is way too nosey to miss anything .........

I would definitely give him some time to get used to his surroundings, especially if he is alternating days at your sisters and daycare. Chat Icon
