DD started preschool today, with a couple of issues, advice needed.
DD started a preschool for 2 year olds today. They have an adjustment period so it was for 45 minutes, only half of the normal session and only 5 kids, to 5 teachers. Her normal class will be 1.5 hours with 10 kids 4-5 teachers. I am thrilled with the school and the teachers, and even the Moms and Dads I have met.
DD did well when we arrived. I did a quick drop off and then scooted out the door. She didn't see me leave. They told me she did great for the whole class and didn't cry at all. One kid wailed the whole class and I think it may have rattled DD, she is very sensitive to other kids. When I walked in to pick her up she saw me and bolted for me, her arms up to be picked up and she looked like she was about to cry. As soon as I picked her up she grabbed me and whimpered in my ear "I want to go home". Our next class is Wednesday. Do you think we are in for a tough drop off? Any advice on what to do if it is an issue?
She's doing something brand new tonight and we can't figure out where it came from. All evening if DH or I went into the bathroom or even around a corner where she couldn't see us she would say "Is something wrong?", "Are you OK" and "What is the matter?" repeatedly. Do you think something may have happened at school I should be concerned about?

I think you should really talk up how much fun school was, how great her new friends will be and all the fun stuff her teachers will do with her.
You can ask the teachers what they said to the kids who cried - I think the teachers just tried to comfort the other children - that could be where you DD got it from.
Maybe she could bring a toy in as a show and tell and she'll get excited to show everyone???
Talk up the other parents to see how their kids did and if they repeated anything.
