DHs time off when baby is born
How long is your DH taking off from work when the baby is born?

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
2 weeks.
ets - I know I will be in the hospital for at least 4 days with a c-section. So he will need to balance his time between the hospital and DS.
Then I told him I wanted him home at least 1 week after discharge. More to take care of DS and chorse than anything else. I am confident I can handle the girls from my bed recovering

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
He's not taking off.
DH works only off commission, so no work, no pay...he can do some work from home (hospital) which he will probably do for the most part. But we have my parents and DH's parents that will take care of my DD while I am at the hospital.

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
My DH works for dept of sanitation and so he had to pick his days off early in the year - he choose the week of and the week after the baby's due date and the are aloowing him another "floating" week - so hopefully 3 weeks. However, if our LO is born early - we may only get onne week (the floating week) until the other two weeks come up.

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
It will depend what is going on at work for him at the time.
I was hoping he'd be able to take 2 - 3 weeks but there's a big project with a targeted launch date in the same timeframe as my EDD.
We're going to have to play it by ear.

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
with DS he took off 2 weeks.
He gets 1 week pd paternity, but he is already warning me that he is so swamped he is not sure how much time he will be able to take.
I am thinking of sending him to work while I am in the hospital so that I have him at home when I need him.
But either way I am lucky to have alot of family to help me if I need it! I plan on shipping DS off to his cousins and grandparents often so I can focus on baby when need be!

My DH is sani too.
He mentioned the floating week too. I think he's taking that and then 1 week of vacation.
then I think he wants to take a week a few months later.

Dh is taking two weeks vacation and two weeks unpaid (for which we saved up the money to cover) We have two dogs, one of which is a pain in the a$$ so I will need his help

He thought he got paternity leave but it's not the case. he's going to try to get 3 weeks if not, he'll take 2 weeks.

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
with DS is what over a week. He owns his own contracting co and just works with his father so he was pretty flexible. He did work a few days the end of the 2nd week.
With #2 coming it'll probably be the same

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
My DH will only be off while I am in the hospital. As soon as the LO & I come home, he will go right back to work. Memorial Day to Labor Day is his extreme busy season, so we both decided that it is best for him to go back to work since I will be off on Maternity Leave until October anyway, and then when I go back to work he will use his saved "paternity leave" for that month. So at least we won't have to worry about Daycare for the first 6 months.

Re: DHs time off when baby is born
Wow you girls are lucky! My DH will probably only take off about 2 days--maybe a week if I really, really beg.
